Getting cold feet! Anyone with Sapphire Blue Metallic?
SubscribeI just picked up a sapphire blue w/ gray interior and love the color. I saw the aqua and really liked it but it was not available when I placed my order. Sapphire is a bit lighter but a great color.
Do it! I have a Sapphire Blue w black interior coming in a few days. Can't wait! Around the NY burbs, almost all the Porsches are black, white or gray. Just like all the BMWs, Audis and Mercedes. I like the idea of having a different color without being too over the top. My last two BMWs were Interlagos Blue, which is also a stunning color, but darker and more purplish than the Porsche Sapphire Blue. I was so worried when I ordered my IB M5 back in 2008--did I make a mistake with the color?--but I absolutely loved it when I got it. Same with my M3 that I'm about to turn in. Both got a lot of compliments.
As for the Sapphire Blue, I've seen pictures of it on well-polished 991s, and it looks absolutely incredible--almost liquid.
IMO, it's a great choice.

Lets face it you are going to sell this car or trade it in eventually. Blue is a color that looks great but does not appeal to the masses in the Porsche world. So if you don't care about resale get whatever color you want. If you do stick with Silver or Black. If not you will loose another $5K or more when you move on. Blue is great new but will give you the blues when used.
Well, I'd add that the Blue is a step in the right direction, but if your looking for an awesome color, one that everyone has strong feelings about, I'd drop the SC and opt for the LimeGold. I get stopped repeatedly to talk about the color and allow pictures. Porsche deployed that color when it rolled the new 911S out in Japan and the Turbo in the Netherlands.

I have no figures to back me up, but I wonder if color is not like houses with pools? It might reduce the number of people who will want it, but for those who do, lack of color may be a deal breaker. Who knows? Drive what puts the biggest SEGrin on your face. JMOOriginally Posted by CALGUY

My opinion is that black, white, red , or silver might seem bland to some but I feel it draws attention to what's really most important .. the car itself .
Either way .. gotta pick whatever you like.

I seriously looked at Aqua blue, in fact it was my second choice too. I just didn't like all the interior color choices that actually went well with aqua at that time (end of 2012) and I just fell in love with espresso... and when saw C4S intro in this color...I actually decided against it and went with extra safe BUT expensive GT Silver. This color will get attention but it looks great. Highly recommend to see this in person and then decide. Good luck!
Guards Red is outside of my comfort zone in terms of drawing attention and being flashy wasn't my goal at all... But in the end I didn't buy the car for others, it's what I wanted and what makes me happy.
The good news? Every time I look at the car or am out driving it (just seeing the color through the windows) it puts a grin on my face, I just think it's fantastic. Personally, I'm sure I wouldn't have that reaction to white/silver/black - I loved my black 944 out of college: practical (for a single guy), fun, good looking - but the color didn't add to the enjoyment, whereas the red does.
So if you're loving the blue (which is great and was my #2), I suspect it will do the same for you.

I think the Sapphire looks great. Consider Dark Blue metallic if you want blue and maybe not so much flash.. I love my DBM and the color has not gotten old after two years. Again, get exactly what you want, it's a big purchase!
I really liked sapphire blue metallic until I saw it sitting next to aqua blue metallic. Sapphire looked like a very washed out version of aqua, nowhere near as deep and rich. I think if I owned sapphire I would just wish I had aqua every time I looked at the car.
I was very hesitant at first, having never owned a blue car. But I am very glad I did it...mine is Aqua Blue Metallic. The Sapphire Blue is a bit lighter, but I think it is equally stunning on the 991.
