I thought the sound symposer has something to do with the A pillars also?

Or is the A pillar involved in another P-car other than the 991? Maybe the Cayenne?

Thanks Chris, just stuffed some foam down the tube from the cabin side and covered it with a piece of dynamat. Will also do the other end of the tube in a similar fashion.

I thought the sound symposer only turned on with sport. If that's the case wouldn't disconnecting the actuator be simpler?

I heard you would get an error code, if the actuator was unplugged.
Also, that actuator is buried, behind the air cleaner, so getting to it is not easy.

It would be nice to remove the actuator & valve some day and figure out what is needed (resistor probably) to keep the error code from setting.

could one theoretically personalize the cabin sound by placing covers with different sized orifices or even musical instrument like diaphragms at the exit port under the carpeted cover so it is less drony / boomy and more high pitched or raspy per ones preference?

No problem. Lunarx's write-up should help get rid of the remaining sound entering the cabin.

You probably could, but I don't know if there is enough air traveling through the actual valve/tube to make a difference.

Need to make sure length supports the right resonance. Looks like the stock air box is somewhat nifty. But then the cup car has a simple big filter....now they don't care as much about low end torque I guess ;-)
Will hold off and see if someone posts some experiences. For now, I have the Bmc filters inside the stock air box and will leave it at that...
I had an intake and tune combination on my 2005 Mustang GT; it made a huge difference. Most of it, though, was a result of the tune itself. Installing an intake and a tune together helps tweak the AFRs and other parameters that may change as a result of increased air flow.

I would consider a GIAC tune / intake combo on our cars, but I'm (surprisingly) satisfied with the car in stock form.

I just performed this mod on my C2S. Wow! What an improvement. I can listen to the radio clearly now and enjoy the quiet and solidity of the car. The exhaust sound it still glorious but now outside the car where I want it. Best mod so far!

Glad you're enjoying the difference! I felt the same way after I did this, especially when I still had the original PSE muffler installed.

Dumb question perhaps, but I'm new to Porsche. Would a dealer take the position that this mod voids any part of your warranty? Its seems really mechanically innocuous, but is Porsche **** about DIYs?

If you're just stuffing the tube, I doubt they would even notice, let alone care. Even disconnecting the symposer won't raise any red flags in my opinion.

Keep in mind that Porsche can't legally "void" the warranty for this mod. They'd have to actually prove that the modification caused the failure/fault of another part, or the part itself.

Does the turbo have this symposer as well? I actually find myself wishing the exhaust was louder sometimes.

Turbo /S has same sympose system. The exhaust sound is very muted as standard - way quieter than C2 etc with PSE.

I stuffed some packaging foam in the the cabin inlet back in 2012. Have enjoyed the exhaust noise from the outside much more since.

And prefer hearing mechanical whining of things more so than the intake / symposer that I found sounded about as good as a cheap stereo bass speaker.
