First Oil Change @ 2k or 10K miles?
Your also not reading the full references you quote. First off my Reference was a SAE article that was documented by an independent organization, The Society of Automotive Engineers, not by the oil companies in your first reference. I did look for a copy but didn't find it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Secondly, your 6peed online reference was full of conflicting non-scientific guesstimates by owners.
Lastly I was not faulting your decision on when to change your oil. My only disagreement was the reference that oil sitting in the pan is no different than in the original container. It's your car, do as you please. Like several of the other members I do mine my way.

I also looked for the article but could not find it before I wrote my last reply .I even looked on the history of the Mobil1 literature.
The reference to the 6speed discussion did have links provided and the majority of posters were former site sponsors who were tuners and technicians . They had access to the manuals and literature in their shops to contribute to the discussion .
I did not say the SAE study didn't exist but within the discussion thread it was pointed out and (you also pointed out) that Mobil 1 has been reformulated (you chose to use the word "improved") .
The literature on that thread discusses how the reformulated Mobil1 takes into account the catalytic converters on the newer cars . The 1970's Ford cars are a completely different engine than a modern day Porsche that I just can't see how the study would apply to present day (even if were able to find it).
Check out the DIY under oil change. Also post 26 on how to change filter.
