I also have the standard black........not resistant to even light scratches. My next car will not be black, as nice as it is, it is a lot of work to keep it 'detailed'. I had an issue with the dealer on delivery, the car was covered in swirl marks, not easy to get rid of. Even after some professional detailing it drives me crazy to really look at the paint finish.

In the detailing world, black is not a hobby but rather a full time job. The more "into" detailing you are, the faster you should run from black. I'm told from several detailing gurus that Porsche black is very soft which only makes matters that much worse. Like the OP, I so wanted to order black because the car is fantastic looking in that color...but simply couldn't bring myself to do it. Afraid all I would see when looking at the car would be the swirls & scratches. White or silver are the two best colors for hiding scratches & dirt.

991 paint is also quite thin upfront and thicker towards engine bay. Go easy when u polish it especially on the hood.
