Seat cushion indent

So, here I am! My first car, let alone a 2014 911S! I'm thrilled and did all my research. I found everything I wanted and at a good deal. A 2014 with 2k miles. Reason I wanted one with a couple miles is bc its still new and you let someone else eat the depreciation.

I got my car this weekend. For the most part, I love it. Loaded with everything. PASM, sport exhaust, front grill, etc.

Frustratingly, I bought the car from a dealer in Cleveland and went based on pictures. I figured it was a couple months old and only 2k miles, it can't be far off mint. For the most part, its not. BUT... When I opened the door I noticed a quarter sized indentation in the passenger seat. Its a bout the size of a quarter. Its pretty noticeable with touch, but you can see with pictures as well. I've attached a couple.

Question I have is: 1) Is this covered under warranty? It looks like a defect. 2) Does the foam over time just mold back? There is no rips or scratches which makes it so weird. Of course the dealer didn't disclose this, so I am going back and forth with them, but I am worried about warranty (although they said it is covered) and I am curious if it will just go back to normal.

Thanks for all your help. I'll send full car pics once its washed and really beautiful.

Somebody put something on the seat besides their ****. So technically, it is not a warranty issue.

The original dealer may fix because they misstated the condition, but that is sales/contract law.

Maybe some dealer around here may help you out to get your business. But, replacing a lower seat cushion and cover is pretty expensive.....

But there is no rips or stretches. thats the strange part. It just looks like its hollow underneath. Wouldn't the cushion foam go back? and if no tear or issue, why wouldn't that be covered? - as the GM from the dealership I bought from told me.

technically an indent is a stretch.

Probably will not go back. Some have tried using a hair dryer to warm the cushion, but the leather has increased surface area. There is no way to get the leather or vinyl to assume the original surface area in a controlled manner.

What you have is a "ding" in you seat. If they won't warranty one on your door, why would they do so on your seat.

You can try an experiment. Take a golf ball and put it next to the dent. (about 6 inches away). Put a 20 pound weight on the golf ball. Leave overnight. See what it looks like in the morning. (actually, please DON'T do that, because you will have an identical dent in your seat)

If you told them you did the experiment that I outlined, would there be any discussion about a warranty?
The previous owner probably put some heavy object on the seat and left it overnight. The seller prayed you would not notice!

This should fix itself. Give it some time and massage the area. Wouldn't hurt to have someone sit in the seat for a while. Take a drive with a passenger. Had similar indention after my golf clubs pressed against it on a recent ride home from the course. What i mentioned above worked for me. Good luck.

Thanks, Cutters68. Did it look like that? How long did it take to regain shape?

This issue probably should be covered. I recommend you take it back to the dealer and approach it that way.

Just to note: When you have someone sit in the seat for a while, it just stretches the rest of the seat to match the spot. It does not make it go back...no matter how much you message it....

ChuckJ - I can't take it back unfortunately - I'm in NY. car was from OH. I am arguing with dealership as it was deceptive not to share ahead of time. He said either heat/time or warranty covers it but I want to make sure. I wouldn't even mind so much if I knew the form would go back. So frustrating this is how I enjoy my new car.

Very similar to that. Mine returned to normal within a day. By massage I mean the area immediately around the indentation, no so much the indentation itself. It is stretched leather, if you take it to the dealer they will likely dampen the area (hopefully with distilled water) and use a heat gun or hair dryer to draw the leather back to its natural state. Let us know how it goes.

Cutters68 - Thanks. It was def there more than a day, my guess is weeks at a min., which makes me nervous. It has been in the cold, so maybe still a chance it expands back. Just no clue. Maybe they replace just that cushion?

I'm going to make an appointment with a dealership by me. Trying to think what would the options be. Really not right that the dealer didn't disclose it. Trying to argue with them at the same time

Is it on the seat or on the back rest?

The seat. The cushion that rests behind your mid/lower back.

So it's the back rest and not the seat bottom.
That's what I thought from the pictures and makes it all the more strange.

I do not see why this should not be covered under warranty.
