991 base with pse or fabspeed?

was wondering what you guys would chose on here, i'm getting a base 991, the S isnt in the budget and was wondering if i should get sport exhaust as an option or if the fabspeed xpipe and side muffler system is better. I cant even find a vid of PSE on a base car to tell what it sounds like they are all on the carrera s on youtube that i have found.
I know you can get fabspeed stuff with pse intact but thats not in the budget or the question. any opinions/ thoughts are welcome. thanks

I don't mean to stick a spanner in your works but IMO if it's purely for sound, I wouldn't go for either on a base 991. The stock exhaust sounds just fine. If it's for enhanced performance, I'm not sure whether the small gains of aftermarket exhausts are worth it or are noticeable.

So my vote for a base 991 would be neither. Save the money.

Hmmm.... Ok point taken. As I like to keep my cars kitted with OEM parts and accessories, I'd stick with PSE. I really like the ability to go quiet or loud which comes with pse. I'm not familiar with the other 3rd party products and don't know if they're able to do that. Having said that, I'm sure others on this forum have plenty of experience and will share their views.

Good luck with the car and options.

I have a base with a PSE. Love it!

Finished a PCA autocross last year and I can't remember how many comments I received from club members about the great sound

Stock exhaust on the base is louder than the PSE in off mode. Frankly, it does sound pretty darn good above 4000 RPMs.

The one thing missing is the pops and gurgles during overrun. The base exhaust has zero pops and gurgles.

I am personally torn between leaving the base exhaust as-is, or replacing the center muffler with a crosspipe. So far, I am leaning towards leaving it stock and spending the money instead on a 2nd set of wheels (rather than swapping tires in the winter).

Love my Sharkwerks x-pipe on my base. Had PSE on my 981 but I just couldn't justify the $$$.

Best of luck with your decision.

Here's a video that a customer of ours just did featuring our new SpeedTech center muffler delete X-Pipe on a base 991.

He compares the car with the OEM system before the X-Pipe was installed. Nice sound improvement - at high RPM's it's very Ferrari-like, IMO and has a great exotic bark to it!

I have a C2 with the PSE. I love it. I would never install stuff on my car to have it sound like another car, Ferrari or otherwise ! It's a Porsche and I'm proud of it.

PSE can be quiet when you want it to be, and can be aggressive when you feel like it ! Best of both worlds at the push of a button ! Two exhaust, heck, two cars for the price of one ...

And get the sunroof, it really enhances the aural experience of the car !

The key IMO to a making a 911 sound good is the center muffler delete. I went with fabspeed x pipe but others are available.
