Drivers door closing noise sounds cheap/loose
Hey guys,
I drive a 2014 991 4s, love the way it drives, just one thing that really bothers me. Ive done about 15k KM, and about 10k KM ago I noticed I had lost that lovely nice noise when I close my drivers side door.
On the passengers side it still sounds like a vault when I close that, but my drivers door, it feels like something is loose on the inside of the door panel. Effectively making it sound very cheap. This of course happens every time I get in and out of the car, which kinda sucks.
My Porsche dealer is 100km each way from my house, and I've already gone there to see if they can fix it. They said they put everything as tight as possible, but couldn't find the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was the fix?

either the clips, or the door striker needs adjustment.
Also, make sure the window makes contact the same way the passenger side one does. If the glass hits the seals in a funny way, the door will reverberate.

Yeah, the door close is one of the things I'm not completely pleased about.. It isn't bad if I close with very light force.
But almost any passenger will use normal force and it sounds.. not rattly like something is loose or a missing clip. .Almost like the internals aren't entirely secure.. I suspect it is because the door is designed to be fairly light and the heaviest component is the glass.
Unfortunately it is both doors so I just assume it is normal and use more of a light touch... Definitely not the "click" kinda close I'd expect..

I checked the door striker, and it does sound that the noise is coming from that area. But i couldnt find any room for adjustment when it comes to the door striker.
My door striker has come loose once. You would not notice just trying to move it with your hand, but screws were a bit loose and the striker moved a few mm's when closing the door.
there is an odd science to adjusting these types of doors. Some companies even have jigs and feeler-gauges to properly adjust.
I would strongly suggest getting a discussion going with either your dealer or another one on how to adjust. There is a huge difference in service centers. I once had a car (a 1995 Ford Probe GT....stop laughing) that I worked on for months to adjust the door correctly. I had autobody experience and thought I could do it. My first Ford dealer kept saying, "you shoulda bought da mustang and dis woulda been easy ta fix". So i took it to a mazda dealership and paid 50 dollars to do it right. (the car was made by mazda) After that, it was all fine for another 2 years!

Check the door near the hinge. There could be a piece of black rectangular plastic that is loose and not fitting properly into the door.
