New Exhaust Installed -- Just in Time for Spring!
New Exhaust Installed -- Just in Time for Spring!
Well I finally took the car out of the garage and headed over to my friend's shop for an exhaust installation. Wow!--what a worthwhile trip.
The new Awe exhaust system sounds incredible. Serge was right on the money with his observations. It's finally great to hear a dramatic difference when I press the exhaust button on the console.
The sound is throaty and commands respect, yet it's not the least bit obnoxious. I'm also quite pleased that the car sounds completely stock when I switch the system off.
I've included some photos:

George's shop is in Suffern, NY. He was the service director at Jack Daniel's Porsche for many years and finally opened his own shop.
Much better than dealing with the Stealership.

George giving Dennis a hand with the removal: it was a little tight, but everything went smoothly.
In with the new! The system is very well designed and the welding was done by a true craftsman. Remarkable to say the least.

Yes, the car is an "S" and I did keep the original tips. I may go for the black tips somewhere down the line.
And, "yes", I did notice the HP bump (around 4K) on the way back home from the shop.
I notice that this car does turn a lot of heads, but now even more so with the new sound. Life is good!

Hello, does195.
Yes, my C2S does have PSE.
The installation took close to two hours, but we were doing a lot of talking and Dennis was taking his time.
I'm not sure how involved an installation would be in a non PSE car: you should give Zack a call at AWE Tuning: 1.888.565.2257

What AWE system did you purchase Tina? I'm not that familiar with their offerings but is it a full system or something less? The car in the video sounded fantastic btw - I like the fact there isn't a lot of gurgling or pops - just solid low/medium tone audio. Right in the sweet spot imho. Congrats on finding that sweet exhaust.

The key here is to tuck the rubber lines behind the metal shield so they won't touch the hot exhaust pipes. And to answer your question: the vacuum lines that come with the AWE system are long enough for a proper installation.
I'm sure you'll love the sound of your new system. Enjoy!
It's funny that you mention this: my installer and I were discussing how impressive the metal-braided OEM vacuum lines are in comparison with the replacement lines.

The AWE lines coming the exhaust are not metal-braided but are good quality and the design of the exhaust makes it easy to run them at a good distance from the hot pipes as Tina explained.
This point is worth mentioning as I had tried other aftermarket solutions before the AWE switchpath exhaust and the vacuum lines melted twice

No such thing here, even when running the car hard at the track.

I had the same system installed yesterday at Tirri Motors. George mentioned that he did your car last week. So far I'm really enjoying the sound.
I see that you come from Mahwah. You should visit one of our cruise nights (Rockland Rodders) in Pearl River. They begin in May.

Tina, glad to hear you're enjoying the exhaust, and that the installation went smoothly! This thread managed to slip past my radar somehow.
If anyone else has any questions regarding the AWE Tuning SwitchPath Exhaust for their 991, I'd be more than happy to help.
