Wow! I can't believe how common this is. I posted about this a few weeks back too. Interesting to see its an oil vent issue, as my car smells like burning oil when I park. I brought my car is for service today but forgot to mention the oil smell thinking it was from being a new car. The service guy said the he has heard the honk from other cars and that as far as he knows it should go away. He suggested I drive more and see what happens. I think he just didn't know and maybe I didn't describe it well. It all makes sense now. The honk is bad and my car smells like burning oil. I'm glad to hear its not dangerous. I'm going to call service back monday and let them know about this. Please share your experience when you go in. Did they say it is an easy fix?

Thanks

Guys...hallelujah!!

This "Tonk" or "honk" sound and the burning oil smell has been driving me bonkers. The service shop is unable to resolve this issue. Now, I'm going to call them and ask them to fix it.

My cold brakes making a honking sound when I first start driving slowly and before they warm up. It really sounds like a honk so could that be what the OP is talking about?

Its definitely coming from the engine not the brakes.

Yup - 100% coming from the engine.

I didn't put the honk noise together with the fact that my car smells like burning oil when I get out. I wish I put the two together when I was at the dealer for service yesterday. I will let him know tomorrow.

If anyone goes back to service and mentions oil valve issue, let me know what they say. I will call Monday

Sounds pretty common, sadly.

We maybe talking about 2 different sounds here. As my car never smelt like Oil and it occurred as described in some of the posts. Not a frank honk or hum, but a chirp/chime sound to it.

Does this honk sound like a very faint fog horn from a great distance?

I had this sound for about a week and it self corrected. Has anyone tried wringing the car out to see if it disappears on its own. I still have the sporadic burn oil smell though.

I've got the sound also on my 14 C2S MT from day one. It doesn't really bother me but it is when I am getting ready to move from a standstill and I just started the car. It is that distant chime-like sound that is momentary when letting go of the brake pedal and beginning to disengage the clutch pedal. Car has approx 2,500 km on it.

I'll try and listen again to see if it's gone. I haven't paid attention to it as my exhaust sound usually drowns everything else out
