Starting with my VW Passat a few years ago, I try to do an enhancement to my cars at least once a year. Either by adding tinting, mudflaps, power kits, etc. This year I am contemplating one or two of three things. Probably getting the ducktail Aerokit and the AWE Switchpath. I figure, if the bumper's coming off, I may as well do it once. The third would be a new set of wheels and that's a whole load of choices.

The reason I do this is to keep interest in my cars. It doesn't always work as I'm no longer in that old Passat, but you get the idea. Anybody else follow this path to financial destruction?

Once a year? It's hard for me to keep it at once a week!

Yep, I do so as well. I was looking at a set of track/winter wheels. But I really like your mudflap idea! I'm thinking naked lady in chrome.

I'd go with the exhaust first. I was contemplating the full Sport Design kit on my car, too, but decided to get the x-pipe first. I had no problems with the stock look of the 991, so I decided to upgrade the component that would yield the most improvement to me.

What about a full LED treatment under the car? Bright blue and all...

You think so? I could add some canvas side flaps and make it look like a hovercraft.

That'd be great! Post plenty of pics when it's all done.

Although the naked lady in chrome is indeed classic, I prefer Yosemite Sam.

He's a Californian!

Yosemite Sam is an animated cartoon character in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons produced by Warner Bros. Animation. The name is somewhat alliterative and is inspired by Yosemite National Park. He is commonly depicted as a short-tempered Western outlaw with an intense hatred of rabbits, especially Bugs Bunny.

Once a year? I'm doing something to one of the cars or buying Porsche items from the dealer a couple times a month. My once a year seems to be buying/ordering a new car. Got the 991S last March 15 (2013) and then on March 24 this year ordered a Macan Turbo for a new DD. I don't think there is a cure for this addiction.

Sam is Californian, but I'm an Orlandoan.

As much as I love the girls, the wife would definitely disapprove.

Here's another thought, what about grabbing a second car just to track and autocross? If I spin and trash it, I would still have my little beauty. I saw a 914 for $5500. It'd be cheaper than most of the upgrades I'm currently looking at.

Been there, done that. Bought a 996 to track so that I would not crash my previous 991 and eventually sold it. After I crashed my 2013 991, I thought I did not want to risk to damage it again and got E36 and E46 M3's "for my kids" so that I could track them... They are fun, but I can not help to use my 991 as main track car (and DD). It's just too good, too precise, too fast... there is no substitute!.
Still, buying an old car as a project (we also only paid $5,000 for then E36 M3) has been great, but you will miss your blue rocket and its X51 power kit at the track

This^. As much as I keep trying to convince myself to get a used GT3 for the track I always come back to this. Even 2-5 year old GT3's are going to be slower than my current car. The only car that makes sense is the new GT3 but wife's not going for that. Guess Im stuck tracking current car this summer.
