Cayman GTS vs 991 C2
Cayman GTS vs 991 C2
Given the info that the new cayman gts is up to 340 bhp and is lighter than the 991 C2 with 350 bhp do you think that the cayman is the better buy?
Anyone have any comparison vids?

This being said, if $$ is the main criteria, the GTS's are great value for money and the rational choice.
Consider others' opinions or review published test and data comparos ....but how you plan to use it and seat time in cars you are considering are what matters since it's your dollars , not ours !

I'm not sure, but that's my guess since it's using the same engine as the 3.4 Carrera.
The Cayman and 911 are just different cars. I take the Caymans for loaners here or there and it is a great car. It has more direct steering and just handles a little sharper. I am 6ft 3 and 230 lbs though and miss the extra room of the 911. I also really like having a sunroof. For a daily driver I made my choice with a 991. Is this a second car or a DD for you?
I am looking forward to seeing the new Cayman GTS in person sounds like a great car.

The thing about the GTS is that because its the top of the range model in the Cayman series its comes with a lot of options standard that you would have to add if your were to buy a C2, and some that are exclusive to the GTS.
I believe some of them are alcantara on the steering wheel and in a few other places. All leather standard. PSE standard. Sports chrono standard.
And i think a few more.
It just seems like such a great deal when comparing it to the entry level 991 and maybe even a lightly optioned S. ( even though they are totally different cars)
With the 991 chassis making the 911 more mid-rear than pure rear, the differences w/ the cayman have shrunk a bit. I wouldn't rely on a video or written review if one is deciding between these two, you'd have to do extended test drives on some windy roads to appreciate the difference.
If it is a daily driver, the 991 beats the 981 easily. If it's not a daily driver, the decision is a lot harder to make. Like some said before, they different cars and one really has to drive both to make that decision. None of both cars is "better" or "worse". They're just different.
If it's not a DD, I'd go with a Boxster GTS. It's cheaper, looks better, has all the benefits of the Cayman GTS plus you can put the roof down, enjoy the wind in your hair and listen to the exhaust note
Those 10hp less are not noticable.

This is a very close match up .
Cayman GTS strength -
Lighter
Mid Engine Balance
Can get an actual 6 speed manual
Curb appeal
Priced right
991 C2
Comfort
Space
Seems better suited for PDK
What I find so hard to digest is that with the previous generation models of the 911 and Cayman the decision gap pointed so easily to the 911 but it's not the case today .
