Forgeline custom wheels & Cargraphics tips

I've been running the "standard" 235/295 R888 setup for trackdays and wanted to switch to wider fronts ... unfortunately, couldn't find any wheels with the right offsets, so had a set of Forgeline GA3Rs custom made...now running R888s 265/35-19 in front and 305/30-19 in the rear (tire rack actually doesn't show the 265/35-19 as a valid size, but Toyo does make them ...).

In case others are interested, specs on the wheels are 9.5x19" ET46 and 11.5x19 ET 62. Car is a regular C2S.

Tried them on yesterday ... seems to all fit fine without rubbing or anything. Will report on handling after the first track day ...

That's a really nice set up.

I'm was looking at something similar, my only concern is that the front tire/wheel combo will be taller then the rear, especially with the 265/35. So this will basically be pushing more weight/bias to the rear of the car, which you don't really want.

Thoughts???

In the 20" OEM setup, the wheel diameters are 68.0 cm for the front and 68.5 cm for the rear. With this setup, it's 66.8 cm for the front, and 66.6 cm for the rear. That means the front will sit 5.7mm lower and the rear will sit 9.7mm lower than stock. So yes, the rear is lowered 4mm more than the front is. Given it's not that much, I am not expecting a big impact from that, but we'll see. If it doesn't work well, the wheel dimensions and offset support putting a 315 tire in the rear which will help ... just won't be an R888....
My old setup lowered the front by 16.2mm and the rear by 12.7mm, so 3.5mm lower in the front which is the opposite effect....

Thanks for the comments! Alignment is still optimized for the old 235/295 setup. Having that optimized vs stock made a huge difference last year. Even with PDCC adding some negative camber upfront made a big difference. I'm traveling but will send you those specs at the end of the week....

Great!! Thanks a lot for the info about the availability of the 265's. I may follow that path in the future. The tips look great BTW!

We'll see how it does on track...economically it's all crazy of course ... Saw a 997GT2 RS with almost no miles for sale for a lot less than what I've got in the car ... Crazy ....

Quick update - the 265 front / 305 rear setup certainly works better than the 235 / 295 combo. Had to keep the 5mm spacers on the front and the rear and get a new track focused alignment. Shaved 2 seconds off my time at Gingerman (1:44 vs 1:46). But it doesn't feel as good as it could be; given the weight in the rear, a more staggered setup might be better after all. So for the next track event going to 325 R888s in the rear combined with the 265s in the front. Already put on the 325s, and after taking out the 5mm spacers they don't rub even during heavy cornering ... we'll see how that feels on track....

paradocs98 is infamous around these parts
Great setup--thanks for posting. I'm a Forgeline fan. I think they're highly underrated among everyday enthusiasts, but well-known and respected (for good reason) in the world of sports car racing--GrandAm, ALMS, now Tudor series.

I had GA3Rs on my 2011 M3 for a track setup and loved them. Now I have 19" GZ3Rs for my 991S, for dual-duty summer daily driver and track use. Similar to your setup, but 0.5" narrower. I have 19x9 fronts with 255/35-19 Yoko AD08Rs and 19x11 rears with 305/30-19 AD08Rs. Only have one track day on them so far, and no prior setup on this car for comparison since the car is new, but the combo seems to be great.

Your new setup with 325 rear tires is the same as that used by Supreme Power for their track setup. Their stats:

BBS Motorsport E88
19 x 9.5 w 265/35-19 Pirelli Trofeo
19 x 11.5 w 325/30-19 Pirelli Trofeo

Should be great!

I'm also very interested in your alignment settings, particularly camber, since you think it made an improvement over the factory specs in the setting of SPASM and PDCC.
