I do miss the dipstick because i can not check the condition of the oil when I wipe it off onto a white rag.

First oil change

Great discussion. Is the first oil change one year from date in service or from date of manufacture. My car is coming up on 1 year from build date but only six months since delivery. I still don't have 2000 miles on the car. ( been traveling for business). Any thoughts?

One year from your in-service date or when your car was stamped.
You'll get a message when it's due.

I did the first oil change at 3,000 miles than let the dealer change it again at 12 months. It did take a long time for the oil to drain out, but I recall that after about 30 minutes it was mostly out. As it was an early oil change, I did not stress if there was a couple of extra ounces left.

To make sure I did not overfill it, I put in a little over 8 quarts, then ended up adding more to get it all the way filled.

They gave me a Panamera and it was a couple of days because they were chasing a rattle in the B-pillar along with the oil change. I think it was about $200 for the oil change and about $25 for the filter kit and about $70 for the oil to do it myself.

I waited for mine. I asked for and got the first appt. of the day.

How much is the combined cost of 9 qts. of MobilOne and the filter & gasket in your area? To me, $259 seems like your dealer has a shop rate of about $130/per hour for the 1-hour job. Plus, they make sure your car has all the latest software and recall campaigns loaded.

The only thing that kinda pisses me off about it for the 991 is there is no coding possible as is the case for 996 or 997.. I'd say "yet" but I asked them and they don't seem to have any plans.. So for the most part it's an Expensive OBD II tool..
