Hardwire to mirror

Has anyone on the forums tapped power from the auto dimming function of the mirror, or any of the power sources in the ceiling of the cabin of a 991s. I am trying to locate and switched power source to power my dash cam dvr. I would like to avoid running a wire down the A pillar to the fuse box.

Blendmount sells a MirrorTap for the Auto Dimming Mirror. I don't have an auto dimming mirror, so I ran my wire down the A-Pillar. It only took about ten minutes to run the wire.

ma991, I went with the mini0801 system, it is pretty budget. I already installed it on my BMW, tapping the homelink switched wire in the overhead console.

I was thinking about doing that; however, the hardwire is a mini usb cable with a 12v to 5v 'inline' converter, which may not fit down the A pillar. Also, i'm not sure if I can source a long enough cable with a mini usb end.

I had a escort 9500 installed, I kept getting a error code which after checking found that there was only one power source that could be used or the power draw would cause fault codes. I had the radar detector rewired correctly and no problems. Not sure if entire car is this sensitive to tapping into wires, but had to wire my escort to a specific spot for it to work correctly.

They also just came out with an upgrade to the mini0801, the mini0803, 2k resolution.

Same compact size.

Money2536, do you have any tips on how to open up the rear view mirror mount?
