What I find amusing about the 6000 miles defined as normal use.. Is that I see all these 5000/year lease packages..

Sure there can be a higher drain, in some cases but the reality is compared to starting and headlights it is a relatively small electrical load. But in general that just accentuates a problem that already exists..

Clearly the primary issue is either a bad/aged battery or a problem with the charging system that results in the battery not being properly charged during normal operation or a battery with a severely diminished capacity.
+1. I have 3 cars with entry and drive or equiv: 991, Touareg, and 650. All are never locked while kept in my garage with the key inside the car. Battery life has been average or above, but the 991 is only 2 yrs old. I also have had to leave all of these cars unattended for 2 wks or so while on travel. Again, they started fine after I returned. I have a CTEK 3300 charger but only have had to use it on my 23 yo NSX which gets driven much less frequently, and, of course, does not have entry and drive.

It's common to blame ketless systems for battery problems here, and on the VW and BMW forums. Mostly unwarranted IMO.

You leave the key in the car while in the garage. You are much braver than me.

at the end of the day i returned my Nissan Versa loaner (worse car i've ever driven...) and picked up my car..

so they didn't find anything and basically hooked up the battery on the charger during the day to make sure it's fully charged... so i'm going to have car-start-anxiety for while.... i guess getting a trickle charger is my solution here.. anyone has a recommendation for one? Can you close the door with it?

I am using one I had before that connects to the positive terminal on the battery and the grounding post in the frunk. I close the frunk on the wire as well, no problems.
