Meteor997S is infamous around these parts
Great info here. What search methods are best? I typically use Ebay, cars.com and Porsche's website. Ebay turns up some nice cars but they also seem to sell faster.

If you can find a 2013 in inventory I am sure you will do better than that. For 2014s we have to wait for 2015 models to arrive before getting good deals.

Porsche website has the best selection. I also use ebay and auto trader.

How do you search for previous year new stock on the Porsche site?

I found that cars on the lot with options that I didn't want ended up being more expensive than my car that I ordered. I got less of a percentage discount, but I got exactly what I wanted and in the end, I paid less. Plus, no compromises.

That's fabulous, but unless you plan to keep it forever, you've also got to consider that extra year of depreciation, which often will take care of that great discount and then some.

It seems that most dealers these days automatically list their inventory on AutoTrader. That's my tool of choice.

Good point. You have to be careful not to pay for someone else's odd indulgence in options. On the other hand, I ended up with options I would have never ordered had I not bought my end of model year. PSE for instance would never have been on my list but may now be my favorite. I'm pretty sure (although not certain) I am enjoying the PDCC too. If the car had yellow instrument dials, body colored interior package (guards red), or something else I did not care for I would not have purchased mine.

That also is a good point. When I bought my Panamanamanamera S off the lot at a huge discount (end of year) it had the $3600 special paint and $3200 uber wheels that I probably wouldn't have ordered. However, the car looked fabulous (for a hideous monstrosity) with the color and wheels. I got a lot of compliments on it - in fact, more than any other car I've ever owned, including the current 911.
