Child's Picture Book
Child's Picture Book
Was looking at the mail today and I spotted a small flat from Porsche. A new toy? A promo gift? A calendar? Nope. These guys sent me a picture book - sort of like the kind I used to buy to read and show to my daughters when I put them to bed. It was the epic story of the Macan S and Turbo.
Are they for real? Who in their right or left mind believes that a 911 driver would consider their tiny overpriced SUVette after getting this picture book?
I want in on their promo budget. I'm sure I could score enough for a significant portion of a 918 from these gullible guys.

I remember something like that from another car maker done in the 60s or so. It was a kids book by Volvo or Saab I believe. The car was the hero of the story and it was illustrated.

I got a pretty box with a credit card looking thing with my vin number and model type and a book called the porsche principle. Also came with a pen and a nice letter thanking me for choosing the car. One of the book chapters was called Exclusivity and Social Acceptance, which I found amusing.
I am most sure I am following you here. There will be no shortage of 911 drivers who might consider a Porsche Macan.
Agreed. I will be one of them but as a second car (one day).
Yup - I received one as well - "special delivery".
A hardcover, coffee table quality, glossy children's book.
Completely over the top for this city / runaround type of car, whose market segment includes the Audi SQ5, Mercedes GLK AMG etc..
They should have saved the money and made their $1,670 rearview camera option a standard feature.
I'll stick with my V8 Supercharged Range Rover for less money.

Not sure I'm as upset over the child's book as you, though. With record sales, I'm not sure there's much traction to the argument that Porsche Marketing doesn't know what they are doing or should be more careful in how they spend their money. Haven't seen them make too many mistakes over the years I've been driving Porsches.
