When I start the car, PCM 95% of the time has my car's outline (Carrera) as the start screen, but every now and then for no rhyme or reason starts with the Porsche logo instead.

I can't figure out why it does this? It doesn't matter if the unit was on or off when I turned the car off it's just almost always the car outline and occasionally the logo.

Anyone else guess why?

 

is this the display lcd in the gauge cluster or the lcd navigation screen?

I was told ( and it kind of makes sense ) that the Porsche logo shows up when the PCM resets itself. Not sure if this is true or not or why the PCM would randomly reset itself, but it has been the only explanation for it that I have heard...

Porsche logo, German language, English language... Had it all but never the car silhouette. Always gets to 'normal' display within 1 second.

 

Car outline every time I start the car. Shield only if I get into the car and start it quickly (not having opened the other door or frunk or needing to unlock and then get in).

 

Crazy! You get the shield every time and never the car silhouette? That's different.

 

Never get the silhouette... Occasionally get the shield... Usually just get the normal PCM screen... I think.... Will check tomo!

 

Multi function screen - car outline
PCM gets an occasional Porsche crest. This happens after it reports to the German NSA on tout driving habits, the recordings of calls. Should you stop at a Merc, Ferrari or BMW dealer will happen right after you leave and within 7 days a service discount coupon, Porsche trinket or stupid Macan picture book will mysteriously appear in your mail.

I suspect that it is clearing it's memory and is resetting
