Yes, sort of. The paddles are molded to and replace the rear shifter buttons and the front ones are fixed or don't press in anymore.

The buttons for the stereo and MF display still work but the buttons on the front for the shiver don't.

Thanks for all the advice. I am in no hurry but will probably eventually get a black airbag and black floor mattes. I never like the Luxor wheel or floor mattes.
I looked at the Tech Art instructions and , for me at least, it looks like a piece of cake to install/ swap these paddles , including the minimal rewiring..which looks as easy as replacing a wall light switch . Also , I would advise anyone trading in a car with them to replace with orig button set as a dealer will give nothing extra for them and in fact may be concerned for liability since OEM shift buttons are removed and replaced by blank dummies. One could easily recover 50% of the orig $900 cost selling them online

I like it! Can you take a pic on from the passenger side to show me how much clearance the paddles have on the 'stalks' etc?

Again, very nice!

I was worried about the same thing but have no problem. I could not be more pleased by home much better they work. Before I hardly ever drove with the paddles. Now it all the time. The big surprise to me is how even in non sport or sport plus you can hold the revs higher and when cruising around or even better hold the revs higher and shift down earlier when slowing down and get more of the over run burps and gurgles.

The gap is once inch on that side and 3/4 inch on the other side.

I really like the look of the TEchArt shifters. I added the Champion shifters to my MF wheel. They also make the buttons "dummies". They work great and really like having the MF wheel with paddles instead of the world's dumbest buttons. I like the look of the TechArt paddles better than my Champion. Plus the Champion paddles are AL. So they get HOT in the summer and freezing COLD in the winter.

I installed my Tech Art paddle set more than a year ago, and still love them. I don't like the buttons at all. Plus, compared to my several DCT BMW's, the Porsche shifter is reversed in manual mode. I am always having to think about what car I'm in to determine whether to push or pull the shift lever. This results in a few unwanted up and down shifts. The paddles all operate the same and help me keep my sanity.

I applied black Plasti Dip to the fixed dummy buttons on the front of the multi-function wheel which made them almost completely unnoticeable. It looks great.

Now, if I could just figure out how to reverse the Porsche shifter I'd be in shift nirvana.

It is not possible to reverse the wiring on the after market shifters?

Doubt it is something that is hard-wired at all, so not a matter of reversing wires. All of the controls in our cars -- buttons, levers, switches, shifter, etc. are modular circuits managed by software. Yes, there are wires to the controls, but they are talking via CAN-bus. There was some previous threads talking about altering the software to change the shifter up/down and so on, but as many pointed-out this could come with significant liability ramifications in a street car.... Just my $0.02.

Peace Out.

Hmmm..if you were interested in selling that beige airbag of yours I would possibly take it if the price was right. I'm looking to get a 997.2 PDK paddle wheel for my 997.1 tiptronic and i'm slowly putting the pieces together (I know I need to code it once its done w/ new steering module) PM me if interested

It's disgraceful that Porsche hasn't made the paddle wheel standard. The button wheel should have been discontinued years ago. The fact it was still the standard wheel on the 991 generation of cars is pathetic. The option should have been paddles or paddles with multifunction. The button wheel is a joke and no one would pick it over paddles were it not for the multifunction. Shame on Porsche.
