IPOD Problems
IPOD Problems
My Burmester amp was replaced when the car was about a month old because I lost all functionality (sound, phone, the works). Now about a year later, I noticed when I switch to IPOD, it was taking too long to start up in that mode. Today it wouldn't go switch to IPOD at all. I restarted the car and that seemed to resolve it. At first I had the same error message, something to the effect of "no track recognized" but then the IPOD functionality kicked in and was OK.
Anyone else have a problem with their IPODS who have Burmester or have IPODS with the BOSE or Base units?
Hopefully it will be a reflash. The car was in the shop 2-3 weeks for the parts last time.

I received this message the other day and, as you mentioned, the ipod then went ahead and resumed from where it had stopped. I find that if I open some other door first (put something in the frunk, golf clubs on passenger side, etc.) and then get in the ipod starts up immediately. If I get into the driver side first and the car has gone to sleep (say overnight), ipod startup can be a bit. I think all this is normal and, at least for me, this behavior has been consistent from day one.
I've never had rock solid iPod integration with any in-car iPod interface. Had intermittent problems with an E60 BMW, an E70 BMW, 987.2 Cayman S (Bose), a Panamera (Burmeister), a 981 Boxster S (Bose) and now a 991 (Bose). The problems aren't serious though... one in maybe 15/20 times the iPod is not recognised or it's recognised but the content doesn't pass through. Usually if I unplug it and replug it in, it works fine. There was one time in the 987.2 where a software update for PCM worked for a short while, but otherwise it's been hit or miss and I couldn't care less any more to jump through hoops and try to make it flawless.
Much appreciated. I tried the cable but that didn't work. Car is going soon and service manager is going to check it. The Burmester amp was replaced but he said there are "interfaces" that can be also an issue.
Much appreciated. Car is going in tomorrow. Will ask about it then.

This bug must be a new virus transmitted just by reading this thread. Today it happened to me and, for the first time, would not go away. Basically the current song would play but none of the Ipod info (playlist, tracks, etc.) was selectable (white'd/grey'd out). Turn the car off and then on; no change. Reset the PCM; no change. Switch to another source; no change. Unplug/replug Ipod; no change. Completely pull Ipod and do an Ipod hard reset; it works correctly again! YMMV.

Agree with HotHonda. Dealer found the error, reset my IPOD and that did the trick.
