I couldn't deal with the Bose, it sounded pretty bad to my ears. I had a custom system installed at the bottom of the frunk so it's mostly hidden. It's been almost a year and I enjoy every minute of it. It sounds great, even at highway speeds or at a stop light. It was a great purchase for me. It's a Focal/Audison system. See link for PICs.

mrchua,
Glad to hear the settings worked out.
I have not messed with lossless encoding, but it might help too.

robieracer,
Very bad *** system!
Someday, when I get sick of the PCM, I hope I can do somethimg similar but using an aftermarket head unit.

I kept the PCM so everything is operational as normal, I'm not sure there's much to gain by an aftermarket head unit.

Hey Robbie, that's very nice. I'm a little concerned about having some hack drill holes and modify my expensive car - especially if one thinks (as I do) that a lot of Nick Murray's problems were likely caused by his radar detector installation.

Pardon me, but I'm going to be obnoxious and ask: how much did that setup cost you? And if you can break that down with materials and labor, that would be a good point of comparison for me when I start looking for someone local to do it for me.

Thanks!

It was approx. $7k for the install. It's probably best to do a search on my parts list for a price, but I'll guess:
Audison Amp - $1k
Arc Audio amp - $350
5" sub - $500
165KRX3 (used 4" from 100krs instead of 3" in this pkg)- $2k+
100krs - $650
Audio control - $?
cables/wires/misc - $?
labor - $?

Thanks Robbie!

I was hoping that it would be a bit less, but hey... you gotta pay to play!

My Bose system sounded a lot better once the resonating side mirror button was fixed (open link below). I keep all settings at 0 (bass +2 as recommended by a previous post is way too much bass IMO).

Is stuffing the bass enclosure still the hot tip like it was with the 997.2 Bose setup?
