50k Fast Approaching

So, what's been happening? While traveling through the mtns of North Carolina with Navi on leading home to Florida, the PCM would continuously reset! Never had this issue previously. Even while taking off again from a Georgia has stop, the navi finally came on and was about 100ft off target. It thought we were still at the station, and again would keep resetting, starting up with us at the station even though we were far from it. Each time, I would turn the car off/on to no avail. I had to just turn the navi off to keep it from blanking and restarting.

Believe it or not I completely forgot about this issue when I took the car in for my free 50k oil change, thank you PCNA! When leaving, I called the wife via Bluetooth, about 3 min into the conversation, the PCM rebooted again. The call was still connected. When it finally settled, down the phone call was still connected and our talk continued for about 30 sec or so as I complained about the issue. This resetting happened three times before I ended the call. Anyway, I have an appt set for Monday for the dealership to look into this. They say there is a software update (as I've seen on this forum), but they don't have it yet... We'll see. I'm thinking it's hardware as I've never had the problem for the last 30months.

Here's the funny part, sitting at 49600 miles, I had a track day at Sebring set up. 100 miles or so there, the same back, leaves me enough for three sessions or so before the warranty is over. Well, near the end of the second session, the low fuel light comes on, yet the gauge says half full. Day over and headed home. Another thing for them to look at!!

Is it just me or does this always happen near the end of warranties?!

Sounds like an epic road trip! Hope you get your issue figured out! Keep us posted.

Always happens to me during track days. When getting 7-9mpg, the computer calculates your range of about 50 miles, so the light comes on. That's when I know it's time to top off with racing fuel.

That does make sense. Although I've had track days where I'm down to a qtr of a tank and no warning received. Either way, I've warned the dealer about this so the issue is noted before the warranty expires. 😄
I plan to test this issue next month when I go back to Sebring again. See if I can repeat this error.

As a side note, dealer updated my PCM. Tested it by calling and having navigation show me the way home simultaneously. No problems....yet. I'll try more to break this again.

You know, I've had problems with the car, no doubt. Two transmissions, horn replaced, various plastic parts replaced. As a perfect experience, this ain't. But, the smiles I've gotten and the experiences I've collected, I'm quite happy with the little beast. Now it's time to turn the corner and see how it does with out the safety net of a warranty saving me.

Congratulations Chup!! I can't even imagine 50K miles and I've had mine almost as long as you have had yours.

Weren't you the one that had the transmission go right after you picked up the car at the dealership?

It's official. From here on, I pay for everything.

The dealer updated the PCM and did not find a fault related to the fuel or PCM rebooting. They too thought the computer outsmarted itself and said it was warning me due to 6 gallons left at 8mpg. Although I have never sent that before on my track days. Could just be me.

Congrats Chup! I am not far behind in delivery date, but very far behind in miles - just crossed 13K. Took the car from NJ to ME and it was perfect, but the NAVI is just a pain in the a$$ets. IT is so clunky and when it seems like it is going to take you somewhere you don't want to go, it is difficult to see ahead and make changes.

But I guess it is better than my BMW's which wants to put me on Route 1 from everywhere and, when I asked it for a route to southern costal ME, had me driving nearly to Canada - seriously, through PA. When the program defaults hit, they do so with a vengeance.
