HELP Computer Keeps Rebooting..

Hello

I have a 2012 Carrera S, about 5500 miles on it.

One day I was getting a burrito and while pulling out of the parking lot I noticed the PCM rebooting.

And now, tonight, it was rebooting about every 2 minutes. I see the porsche logo, then the carrera logo, and then it loads up. But then resets about 2 minutes later.

I did some googleing and it appears its a firmware issue?
Anyone else have any input?

Take it in. There is an update for it. Mine has been fine since my 'last' trip. Still don't understand why it just decided to do this recently.

Well thar's yur problem.. Don't you know you aren't allowed to eat burrito's in a 911?

Seriously though, were you playing an MP3 file on the JUkebox? Seems to be the most reliable way to get PCM 3.1 to crash repeatedly is when playing an MP3 file, although I've had CD's that do it as well. I've come to the conclusion the codec's have a software problem.

At one point it started happening repeatedly I thought my PCM was history then I realized it was crashing on the same MP3 song. Hasn't done it much since..

No it was on satellite radio.

I tried different modes, etc.

But it kept on crashing, in a loop.

But today its not crashing at all.

The salesman at the dealership said they will upgrade it for me

All we need now is Apple to come into the picture and tell us that we're "driving" it wrong.

To OP, I believe there's a way to reset the PCM (see manual; I'm at work). It may be worth a shot before heading to the dealer.

Reboot? I think that while the car is on you can hold the volume button in until the PCM shuts down and then push it again and it will "reboot"..try it, it couldn't hurt.
