+1 just don't let it go to your head that you are superman and NOT hit the brakes driving 100 past a radar trap. When you get the alarm 1 mile before the trap you start to get complacent

Yes, detectors are helpful, but they're not fool-proof and the installed ones are very expensive. It will take a few tickets to pay for itself.
For me it's cheaper to just pay my lawyer a few hundred bucks to handle it for me, and I get no insurance points. Plus, no worries about all of those annoying beeps.

My last ticket was courtesy of instant-on radar. I know it was instant-on because my detector went on, instantly, and I was caught.

The V-1 gets a lot of bad rep because of false alarms/too sensitive etc, but
has saved me enough times that I trust it.
Escort 9500 clipped to the passenger side sun visor and hard wired to the passenger side fuse box. Most LEO around here seem to use Ka band radar, and it's dead on accurate with its warnings. Still no substitute for situational awareness.
My loyal V1 has been great to me. In 12+ years of owning V1s, knockwood I have never gotten stopped for speeding. I always know where LE is and by listening to the tones can tell if there is instant on ahead when someone else way up gets shot by the radar. Mike Valentine does a great job with R&D IMO and periodically when new technology comes out he will upgrade your unit for a reasonable price.
