PDK - Neutral?

When sitting at a long light or in heavy traffic is the recommended practice to place the PDK in neutral? Since the clutch is engaged it seems it would be prudent to be out of gear for long periods of time spent waiting. I sense that Porsche provided for neutral in the paddles for a reason. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If Porsche thought that would help they would have mentioned it in the manual, because it would save them money.

This has been discussed before. No need to put in neutral at a stop.

It means that Porsche designed the paddles so that neutral can be selected using them instead of the stick shifter. Since that is engineering and $$, I thought that it might be purposeful.

PDK neutral

Pull back on both paddles at the same time to select neutral. This does not work with a button to paddle-shift retrofit.

I believe it works on any Porsche wheel with either paddle or button shifters.

Just a fyi, the pull back is not a slow pull on both paddles but a quick pull on both paddles at the same time. I do not generally do this at lights as I believe porsche has built their PDK to not need this, and as pointed out, this is not even recommended in the manual. I did find it interesting that this does not work in my macan with a PDK.

Both back quickly at same time, and let go quickly...Neutral.

Once you get it to work, one more click will return you to the last gear that you were in. The GT3 system is so much better as there is no need to depress again to engage the gear, simply let the paddles go and you are in gear. I wish they correct the 991 C2 4 program so that it resembles the GT3.

ferrari works this way as well. i always felt like it was so you could put it in neutral with the paddles and blip the throttle at a stop light or something. cant really see another reason for it...

I think this is mostly for a coast function which eco mode will duplicate on the highway.
