PSE & PowerKit

For those who have been thinking about upgrading from standard to PSE exhaust, Suncoast Parts has them on sale.... I just received an email from them. Here's the link to the PSE page: 991 PSE Sale. The price seems ok, does include the console switch. For a bit better pricing I might actually go with the AWE SwitchPath instead.

The Powerkit sale pricing seems to be much better - drop from $12,500 down to $8,500 -- X51 Carrera S Powerkit [EDIT: I noted after posting this that the price of $8,500 does NOT include upgrading to the PSE if you don't have that already! To add the PSE to the Powerkit adds $4k to the price.]

The sale email lists some other stuff as well -- Aerokits, exhaust tips for example....

I am not affiliated with Suncoast.

Great price for the x51 kit. Does anyone know what it costs to install this? I already have PSE.

I would like to know as well, can't be cheap but that price is good (where it should have been from the factory...)

Don't know if this helps, but on the 997, it was 40 hours

It would be ridiculous. I'd say 4K for labor alone at minimum.

At the end of the day, adding this on to an existing Carrera whatever model will only return .20 on the dollar at resale. I'd pay the labor if they included the parts for free!

Quite an expensive mod!

labor cost at local dealer was $8k i was told, but was the first time they had done it. when suncoast gets down to 5k, might be worth it. although a measley 30 hp and 0.1 sec improvement in 0-60.................toss down 10-13k ??

need a x51 badge for $25 to stick on the rear, cheap and just convince yourself you have that 0.1 sec under the ducktail

Yeah, personally each time the retrofit of the X51 comes up I just can't imagine doing it. I've come to realize it isn't quite as onerous as I originally assumed, BUT it is more than a bolt on as it is major surgery.

I'm just hard pressed to spend 20K or so (or maybe a bit less in this case) for 40 HP. It has been pointed out that it isn't a bad value for the 10% increase... (if you look at $ per HP and compare to turbos and the differences in cost between a Base and an S and the 50HP gain there.

But just from a practical standpoint 20K, having to rip apart the engine, the down time and then hoping there are no issues.. Just doesn't seem to be worth it.

I'd rather just go for a tune which probably buys you a few more HP (although I'm usually suspicious of the real gains there as well).

I think if I felt I needed more HP (I don't) I'd be more included to trade in for a 991.2S which probably will get about the same HP bump as well...

I started a whole thread on this. Prices differ for a C2 and S/4S. I have a 4S and total for parts and labor was $2k. The dealer charged me 4-5 hrs for the install.

No need to drop that kind of coin for 40 HP, Scatkins. Any number of vendors here will sell you a cat-back exhaust and hi-flo air cleaner that will do the same thing for just a few grand! Just ask them......they have dyno charts n' everything!!!

Why bother. Aren't there are a bunch of exhaust manufacturers who claim 30+ horsepower with installation of their chrome tips?

Lol, I decided to just be happy with the performance levels I have. Makes not thinking about it much easier. I'm pretty sure the only thing I'd accomplish with more power are traffic tickets or getting myself wrapped around a utility pole.
