GT4 steering wheel for our 991s?

I was just thinking that the new GT4 steering wheel would make a nice upgrade to a 991 stick. I'm sure a wheel similar to that one will eventually be standard on the 991 (when it gets turbos ). In the mean time, as long as there's no premium on it, it might make a nice upgrade (although a new airbag is needed obviously).

I was also hoping that the GTS' use of an alcantara manual shifter would make it possible to get one from Suncoast for less the $500+. No luck as of yet...

I like the alcantara feel, but I'm weary spending that much on upgrades that will wear our fast. I had the GT3 shifter in my 997.2 and it lasted a little over a year before it was really worn.

Regards,
DRP

Hahah... indeed. I think your absolute best case scenario is $2k for the parts alone given it appears to require a new airbag... knowing Porsche, probably more. And that is before labour which could be dicey given there is no info yet on whether or not it can be retro-fitted.

I'll be following with interest but I think this is a very expensive move that may not ever be possible...

Looks to me that the airbag is the same, just with different trim on it.

However, it appears that the Sport, Sport Plus, & Launch indicators, on the current Sport Wheel, will be lost.
There don't appear to be any indicators on the GT4 Steering Wheel.
That might mean the GT4 wheel is only $800, instead of $1100 ; )

Right - gt4 wheel won't be pkd compatible

The wheels for the GT3/RS are nice but only come w/paddles. I have the sport wheel with a manual now. I have sport chrono and there are no buttons or lights on spokes of my wheel now. That's why I think it's a potential for a swap.

I went from the triangular airbag skinny base wheel on my 997.2 to the multi function heated wheel with a round airbag. That took some work. The gt4 wheel on my 991 should be a breeze by comparison.

As for the shifter. The old gt3 shifter I put in the 997.2 was $320. Which was nice since I had to replace it due to wear after 15-20k miles. So when I complain about the new one being almost $600, it's because it's disposable...
I'll post if I do anything with the wheel or shifter.

I would love to know this as well, can't stand the existing wheels and LOVED the 918 style wheel when I drove the Macan. Have you called Suncoast to ask if they have any details on what it would take?

I haven't called Suncoast yet. Ric Knab helped me with the last steering wheel upgrade. He's great. I'll post once I get some info.

the airbag on our existing 991.1 steering wheels is too deep. you need a new airbag element.

guys over at planet-9 already tried the retrofit - as the gt4 wheel is the same one in the Macan/Cayenne/918
