Completely ridiculous. So if they were to damage your stock exhaust, they aren't responsible? I have an idea, how about they just fix what's broken and don't damage anything and they won't have a problem. It's not like you have Faberge eggs installed on your exhaust. It's freaking metal.
Actually I can see this rationale. Some aftermarket exhausts are $5000. Don't blame them one bit on this one.

Well, this particular dealer logic is lost on me --- I can see if you were taking a Ferrari to the Honda dealer, they might want some limitation of liability. But a P-car dealer, working on a P-car, which includes an aftermarket item that THEY installed? Why are they be able to install the exhaust system (and charged for it!) but can't work on the same car without release of liability? That's Bass - Ackwards if you ask me, so please do yourself a favor and go to another servicing dealer. Look for a dealer that also sponsors a race team? My local dealer is deep into P-car racing, so their techs are not shy of servicing all manner of modified cars. I've seen Cup Cars, GT2's, GTs, etc over there....
Figured I'd post about the end result for some closure. Town Porsche in NJ really came through, they took my car in for service to get this figured out for good. While it was there they made me an AWESOME deal on a 911 Turbo S. I ALMOST took it but it was just outside of my budget. That got me thinking about getting a new car and I ended up getting a 911 Turbo for a great deal elsewhere, but was impressed with how the management at Town Porsche took over once this got out of hand.
So how long until I change the exhaust on the new 911 turbo??
