Getting my 991 4S Cab Next Week- What Accessories Should I Be Getting?
All-
I'm getting my 991 4S Cab next week. I'm pretty excited.
There are, obviously, a zillion accessories available for the car. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the basic ones that work for the car? Mats, trim pieces, storage, hood liners, etc.?
Any suggestions borne of experience would be appreciated.
I have a set of quilted Italian leather/carbon fiber print on leather mats on my TTS. Nice change from carpet, and they still look great after several months. Leather is waterproof. You need to vacuum these a bit more often as dirt has nowhere to hide like it can in carpet. Other than that, a damp rag wipe down once in a while is all they need.
Here are pictures of mine with deviated silver stitching and optional Porsche Crest. Also, I installed the aluminum pedals in the pics as well, another nice accessory if you did not order these.
Smart Top and Clear LED front markers. The car is pretty well equipped otherwise.
I totally agree here. Smart Top is great. Love it. I also purchased really nice Italian leather floor mats from a company in Canada. They're diamond stitched and look amazing. I love them and they seem to be very durable over the year I've had them. Really no wear at all so far. Sorry I don't have a link.
Other than that, I did wheels (AG Satin Bronze), full front Xpel and a PASSPORT 9500ci. Love that too.
HA! 991 TurboS beat me to it. Those are the mats I have without the "carbon" lower half. These are GREAT mats. Highly recommend. I like those aluminum peddles TurboS. Nice. Might have to look those up.

The mats really are nice. I'm glad I bought mine.
For other accessories in carbon fiber or leather, look at MAcarbon.com and exclusiveoption.com. Exclusive Option can cover anything in leather. I have their leather covered fuse box panels. In the previous pic I posted, you can also see the MAcarbon carbon fiber covered inner door sills.
There are a couple places where Porsche cheaped out on the materials, particularly the inner door sills and fuse panel covers. The fuse covers you might be able to ignore, but you gotta look at the inner sills every time you open the door, and they scuff up pretty quickly, and it is pretty unavoidable.
The stuff is not cheap, but hey, neither are our Porsches.
Life insurance, for one... (just kidding--but not really).
The built-in radar/laser detector should be high on the list, as well (ask me how I know).
Carbon parts are great: but even for someone that can purchase a new 997 C4S, money is money. Consider MACarbon or DBCarbon. I favor the latter, which I've used with great results at a better price point: And way, WAAYYY better pricing than Porsche Extortionists, Inc...
Enjoy it, howsoever you choose to design your car. Congratulations!

While I agree with you that DBcarbon is a great company and that money is money, you really cannot make a blanket statement that DBCarbon has better prices than MAcarbon.
Consider the inner door sills I mentioned I have from macarbon. For the OP's C4 he pays $550 each from DBCarbon for $1100 total with no core charge. Add in overseas shipping and you are at about $1150.
Macarbon sells the same inner sills for $850 with a $300 core charge, so $1150 with maybe $25 shipping, so $1175 out the door. You can return your sill cores to MA carbon, so you can have a set from MAcarbon for $850. You cannot return cores to DBCarbon, so who really has the better deal?
I like DBCarbon as well. I have a custom carbon fiber/ leather Sport Steering wheel by them in my Turbo as well.
They both deliver excellent products.
Within the realm of the 996, I found a better combination of prices for the parts I desired from DBCarbon (about 10 individual/paired items). A separate vendor was better than both, for my chosen door sills.
They are ALL, in my experience a better buy than OEM.
Your mileage may vary.

Your interior looks beautiful ... Love the whole look especially that beautiful steering wheel.

Yes. For technically advanced luxury cars, they certainly skimped on some of the interior parts, though the 997/991 seem to have made up for that in spades from what I've seen.
I might replace my inner sills with carbon, though I'm hesitant to exceed that 'one piece too many' threshold.
Many parts will only be discernible by you, the driver.
Which should be all that matters, yes?

I've corresponded with the carbon companies, and they all say the 997 and earlier 911 series plastic was a lot better quality, and that cheap plastic is only that much harder to cover in carbon fiber, and that you need a good base for a good final product appearance.
DBcarbon has a yearly sale here on 6speed, so you can definitely save money with them, particularly during that, if they repeat it. And I will also say that DBcarbon was definitely the best price on a refinished Sport wheel of high quality.
I like your fuse panel covers in carbon. I actually ordered a set from a company in England, but got shipped an empty box, and had to go thru a credit card chargeback. I ended up with these covered in black leather, which are nice as well.
And I definitely agree that there is a point where the carbon fiber can get to be too much. I am pretty much done with the interior enhancements on my car.
