Apparently the new 911s have active air intake flaps (just found it in the brochure)!

Also, GT Silver Metallic is now a standard metallic color (without the $$$ premium).

If you want a red light drag racer that you can brag about to your friends, go and spend $60,000 on a 2015 GT500 and run slicks on the street. You'll get what you're looking for
There is no 2015 GT500, the new GT350 with 526hp, redlining at 8200rpm and its FPC is a track car not a straight line brawler.

Yep porsche sure as hell is expensive because pple still pay for it...we should all stop buying P cars and make their sales drop to jaguar levels that will force them to give discounts and be aware of competitions

The Porsche 911 turbo will have close to 600hp in it's new form. If Porsche is all about "handing and feel" then why bother with a 600hp turbo? I am not comparing the 911 to a Hellcat. I am simply saying there is no good reason whatsoever for Porsche to not give the base 911 more power while maintaining all the other good qualities we love about the 911. Why not dial the base up to 420 and the S up to 470? The GTS at 500 and the turbo at 600? It pains me to see the cars held back from their full potential and for no good reason.

There are 25 flavors of the 911 and Porsche positions the cars well to make as much profit as possible. If you want more power open up your wallet and buy a Turbo. Porsche will be happy to sell it you. You have been complaining about power for years now. Go grab a M4 if thats what you want. There is nothing wrong with them and you can throw a tun on it to make it 520 hp for 1500 bucks.

Strange that PSE is still not standard on these cars.
As for the active intake flaps, that gimmick is about a decade old.
This is definitely a .2 iteration.

And is it me or is the lower front end almost identical to the Cayman?

"Without turning this into a "The 911 is slow/fast" thread (which it will inevitably become), most people fail to realize that you're not buying a Carrera/Carrera S for straight line speed. They're all-around sports cars that excel on AND off-track because of great engines, great traction, and low weight."

I completely agree with this.

However, the main thing I hear from the middle of the opinion bell curve people year after year is that they don't understand why, for the base and the S, the low-end torque feels less than what they are expecting from this type of car at these types of prices. It isn't dragster fast at whatever mark is in their mind (say, 1,000 feet) that they want; it isn't they want to get off the line at light speed...it is just that unless one really mashes the pedal the car, in regular street driving mode for many the car just feels initially draggy when the light turns green. Clearly, when you punch it, the cars all really pull and, regardless of vehicle, they will all put you in jail for jackrabbit in any LEW's mind with little effort

I am hoping the new vehicles will change this pretty simple complaint. It has always been a design/manufacturer choice and IMHO this should have been a pretty easy thing to do since in today's world all the manufacturers know how to put the torque they have for the particular design where they want it. They just haven't wanted to do it and while they get almost every other driving criterion absolutely correct, this is one they have chosen to ignore for whatever reason and it is this that bugs quite a few people. (My personal opinion is that they do it in order to stratify the models and, to some extent, to provide a difference between "regular", "sport", and "sport plus" for not only driver situation/style accommodation but likely for fleet mileage and emission requirements.)

They definitely did this on purpose. Going to be a lot easier to sell that as an extra option now.

Porsche is all about having the best brakes... in their cars and in their marketing regarding hp delivery, even with all the competition!!!

I am having trouble to justify so much extra money for the S model. Now they both have PASM, same engine displacement, basically for bigger brakes and different ECU programing it is a lot of money. What do you think? Am I missing something?

Best regards.
