Carrera 4/ 4S No Longer Available?

Anyone know why there is no option to build a new Carrera 4/ 4S on the Porsche USA website? Is it discontinued for the mid cycle refresh?

It isn't discontinued. Porsche usually unveils the "4" models roughly one year after the debut of the 2s. It'll be back!

Agreed. The 991.1 4/4s came out in 2013 but the carrera and carrera s were available in 2012.

I ordered my 2013 C2S on October 1, 2012 and I did have the option of ordering a 4S but production would have been January, 2013 at earliest. As it worked out that's when mine was produced anyway.

So even though the 991.2 C4S isn't likely to be available for another year, Porsche isn't building any more 991.1 C4S models?

I wonder why they aren't continuing to manufacture the current generation cars until the new ones are ready for launch? I guess it's probably too much hassle to have two fundamentally different 911s being manufactured on the same assembly line?

You should still be able to order one.

You can order any of the 991.1 cars at least to the early part of November. That includes the 4, 4s, and GTS.

Porsche will put the 4 and 4S back into the 991.2 lineup, its part of their gradual release marketing cycle to keep the hard core buying new models. Notice on the 991.2 there is no Aero Kit, either? They will add that on as an option later on as well, same marketing strategy.
