PSM always on
PSM always on
PSM remains on in the background at all times with the 991.2?
Perhaps due to the increased low end torque and higher likelihood of loosing the rear end? Not a change for the better. Not b/c its great to turn off the PSM, in fact the only time I do is in the snow so you can spin the tires as needed going up an incline etc.. The problem is the fact that Porsche has decided to move closer to BMW and Merc on this subject and that is not good. I heard that the armrest is to be moved up to accommodate significantly shorter drivers....and I don't think they mean jockeys. Porsche, like Ferrari with the California, is trying to make the 991.2 more chick friendly. Hence the PSM cannot be turned off.
Oh well. I still trust Porsche as an ambassador of driving enthusiasts. But I wouldn't be surprised if the hydraulic steering, naturally aspirated manual 997.2 I had a few years back becomes more sought after.
Cars evolve to handle speed with greater ease (less engaging to drive) while the speed limits stay the same. Seinfeld said of porsches that they are entertaining to drive at 30mph and 130 mph. It's possible that at some point in the foreseeable future that that won't be true. The electronic steering, track/wheelbase changes and interior layout have made the 991 rather conventional at 30 mph. The 997 used to bob up and down.
Back to the point - I'll test drive a 991.2 but I expect to come to the same conclusion that my sales guy did when he sold me my 991. He said of the 991 "its no doubt a better automobile, its just not necessarily a better 911"
