Stereo upgrade on 2015 4S

if you're into upgrades and custom jobs and above all, a great system in your 911, here's what I did. Took it to my custom shop in Manassas VA Safe and Sound where I've taken all of my cars from Range Rovers to AMG Mercedes and gave Matt (the recently ranked #2 custom installer in the Country) cart blanch on what he thought would work best. Once again, he didn't disappoint.

He removed the Bose speakers from the doors (which when I saw them, looked as though they fully matched the crap sound that they put out) and replaced with Focal 3 way speakers. Then in the back behind the rear seats in that void space, he built piece by piece a box to house two down firing 10 inch Focal subs. Wrapped in leather and where the sound and air escape, a custom carbon fiber, Porsche emblem shaped vent. Like I said, this might not be for everyone, but I've always liked having my music sound good, and this more than does the trick. Show quality for sure. If you want Matts info, PM and I'll give it out. But he regularly does projects for the Skins and Caps players. Always quality work. Just an idea!

Nicely done! As for me, I'm more than satisfied with the Bose system...the acustics in the 991 seem to meld perfectly with the Bose. However, I did not find that to be the same case in the Panamera or 981 Boxster.

I find the stock head unit and speakers to be meh.

I was wondering if you could appreciate your upgrades while driving, with all the engine noise.

I've noticed that I feel like I'm going a lot faster than I actually am because of the engine noise, and actually drive a lot slower than I would my X6 for example - with its 8 speed and isolated front engine.

The unit in my Alfa 4C is a complete joke, and on top that the engine noise makes it even impossible to have a speakerphone call.

I'm wondering whether to even bother with audio in these mid or rear engine cars. Wish there was a noise canceller while listening to music.

Your aural feedback is appreciated, do you have to blast out the engine?
Thanks

Cool upgrade... my C4S with PSE was so loud.. this would not be on the top of my list, but everyone has different priorities. Clean install.

Looks like an extremely clean install. Probably sounds great and costs a lot! That bass must be booming since you have 2 subs in a ported box. Any rattles when you turn up the volume and gain? Maybe from the outside of the car?

Looks great and i bet it sounds even better! Would you mind recording a little sound clip and providing a link so we can hear how good it sounds?

Thanks!

Tried to record some with soundcloud and video. Neither pick up that thump you on the head sound. But sounds amazing. Good use of the dead space back there

No rattles, just clean clean sound. I don't necessarily like the bass to take over but if I'm listening to A song where the base is a good part of it, I like it to hit hard so that you feel it in your chest but it doesn't take over the rest of the sound. That's with the three ways and the doors come in to add the perfect balance of mid and high

Your guy should develop a kit to sell. Now that the design work has been done it should be easier to reproduce.

ran everything through new amp. replaced factory. really an amazing job if you want some extra sound. one thing I did find out (and didn't realize), that the paper speakers on the bose that come on the 911, are junk. they're flat, cheap and sound horrible. if you do anything audio wise, prob best to get quality door speakers. even the Burmester is a useless upgrade. Porsche charges an arm and a leg for it but it uses the same speakers that come with the bose system, the only thing thats different is the amp is tuned a bit differently. for the cost of that upgrade for questionable equipment, you could do something really nice, custom.

recently traded in my 4S for the GTS about 2 months ago. 2 days ago, i had all of the gear from the 4S, transferred to the GTS. it was like Christmas all over again.
