Oh man I am so sorry to hear about the damage to your car! I can't imagine how upsetting that must have been and I'm sure it was amplified x100 in the highly stressful situation of a cross country move. Glad to hear you were able to easily sort things out, and thumbs up to your wife for getting everything on camera!

Hope the remainder of your move goes great, and enjoy that awesome weather!

Thank you! The movers left about 2 hours ago after being here since 7:30am...what a day! It's been a little more than 11 years since our last move and I will not be looking forward to another anytime soon. I will admit to being excited about all that is before us...we'll be driving the Cayenne across the country and I haven't done anything like that since college. Fortunately, the damage to the GTS is only cosmetic...and one would have to be looking for it. Moving IS stressful and I thank all of you for helping me keep everything in perspective.

hopefully Geico doesn't drop you now that you have made a claim. That used to be their MO years back. I've been with USAA now for 25 years with no problems.

I had to be towed for a blow out..I can attest to the fact that the front needs to be lifted by a few inches (using 2x4s) going in and coming out of the flat bed in order to avoid scraping the front lip. I have an AERO Cup kit.

Doubt very much GEICO would drop him over a $500 claim. Besides, was not Leslierc's fault and, as such, the other guy's insurance is going to pay to get the car fixed. GEICO doesn't make money dropping people over small claims, but they will drop you if the claim is big or if you have a propensity to make multiple claims.

I've been with GEICO as long as you have been with USAA and it's been nothing but good, so I'm not worried. In fact, yesterday one of the BEKINS men who witnessed everything gave his statement to the GEICO claims agent stating that the tow driver was responsible. Now, it's just a matter of getting situated in L.A. and finding a good paint shop. Suggestions???

I really do...my wife was observing from the second floor and filming for fun to document our move. Everyone should have such a great wingman!

Sorry this happened, but a nationally recognized dwelling contents carrier doesn't mean they are equipped or skilled at shipping sports cars and you'd prob find they don't do it all that often. At least not higher-end sports cars. Did you ask them how many Porsche's they ship a week? Those "less impressive" specialty carriers are prob moving them every day... Bekins not so much. Case in point the fact they had to hire a tow operator to lift your car up since the Bekins trailer isn't equipped for drive-on. That sounds like a potential risk to me that could've been avoided. This is likely why Porsche doesn't use moving companies and have preferred specialty car shipping vendors/carriers.
Sounds like all had been made right so that's a great outcome! Good luck in LA!! You'll miss NJ I am sure! LOL
