My New Targa is Here! Quick Questions

I will be taking delivery of my new 2017 Targa 4S in the next few days. My dealer is having the clear bra installed and I will be purchasing the "Wheel and Tire Protection Package." Anyone know what is a fair price for these extras?

The clear bra will be to the front clip (bumper cover, hood, fenders, mirrors) and rear wheel arches. They tell me that usually sells for $2199 but I can have it for $1800. They say the Porsche Wheel/tire protection package can be had for $1760 for 4 years, which is supposedly discounted $400. Anyone know if these figures sound reasonable?

I will post pics!

Thanks

In addition to what you're getting I've gotten full doors included too and a strip on the rear bumper for a total of $1500-1800.

Sounds about par for the ppf. Make sure they wrap the edges.

I would think you can get the tire and wheel for closer to $900-$1100, that was my experience. At $1700, you have to make a fair number of claims for it to pay back...

Expel Clear wrap is standard cost($1800) around here with full hood. Much higher fee on the wheel and tire insurance. $1000 -$1100.
Enjoy that great machine... look forward to some pics.

Well---Here she is. Love how it came out. Love the smooth power. Wish it made more engine sound but will defer to after I do the recommended break-in and really rev it up. Makes a cool sound with deceleration and downshifting.

Two annoyances: I must disengage the engine start/stop feature each time I start the car. In my Macan I set this once and never have to re-set it. My dealer says this is mandatory due to regulations. This goes away in Sport mode, but once again, Sport mode must be engaged each time. I can call it up using the little rotary switch on the steering wheel, though. In fact, I set the "Individual" setting to defeat auto start/stop, but this needs to be activated each time.

The other annoyance is that each time I unlock the car, the A/C settings return to the setting assigned to that key. What annoys me about that is that sometimes I change the A/C while driving. Imagine being on a trip and you want fresh air, no A/C. Stop for gas, get back into the car, settings all return to those assigned to that key. I would rather they return to the last settings used. I know my Macan did this when new and I found a way to "disengage" the "key" settings. My dealer can't figure it out but suspects it ought to be available.

Anyone know how to overcome this??

Still learning a lot about the new PCM.

Can't wait to break her in........

beautiful car! love the interior! Just a quick question as to why you didn't add the keyless feature? I had a loaner and hated having to take my keys out to start the car.

I have the keyless feature, but have been burned--key in pocket, wife drops me off, she is driving without key !! The ignition **** comes out simply and my key fits in like a traditional car. I still have the convenience of locking and unlocking with touching the door handles but the security of not losing key or leaving it in the car (no good spot for keys/cell phone etc!)

love your Targa
my Targa always remembers i don't have the start/stop engaged
haven't noticed if the a/c problem-it is always on-only turned off a couple times
I have the keyless feature and you can't lock the car with key inside car-my key always stays in my pocket

Unrelated to your complaint I just have to say that red trim was a cool move ...
Congrats !! Then opting for the yellow gauges .. Definitely eye-popping and will make the interior always of interest . Kind a like the red Ferrari's that have the yellow dials!
Enjoy and try not to let these little things get to you...(Definitely more than a first world problem ).

Before the new regs, my 14' 991 came with the start/stop switch that can keep it off at every start but the sport button needed to be switched on at every time like yours. This guy http://t-design9.com/sport_mode_mod.html came up with a fix to have the sport button be activated at every start and turned off whenever. If you have the same setup and you would rather be in sport most of the time, check him out and it might take care of the start/stop annoyance too. You have to send the switch panel to him but the car is still driveable and it is a quick turnaround.
