ECU Tune

Hey guys,

So there isn't a whole lot of power I can get out of my 3.4L but my local shop now carries the EVOM tune (adds maybe 10+hp). Has anyone flashed their 991 ECU with either VRtune/EVOM tune? Would there be any difference between the companies/products used to tune? Thanks

Call Jared @ COBB. I've heard nothing but praise for their ECU tune.

I'm all for owners doing whatever they want to their cars, but if you are interested in maintaining your factory warranty on your engine, you probably should contact PCNA and ask them about the impact on your warranty if you do an ECU tune. If you do want to maintain your warranty, you probably will not want the tune after talking with them.

Remember, it's Porsche/PCNA that provides your warranty and authorizes warranty claims, not your dealer or local shop.

Yeah I agree for those who do not understand you lose the warranty. I wouldn't even bother asking anyone. Once you flash the ECU, you leave a footprint. Any dealer/tech can see you have changed the original mapping of the vehicle.

I did this on my 997 and got nothing but a spark knock and a loss of $900. A waste imo.

Did the Cobb tune about 3 months ago and I am very happy with how much more responsive the car is. I've tuned previous Pcar TT's so I'm not intimidated by the warranty fear. This is not an aggressive tune like some of the turbo tunes. Improved throttle response, better low end grunt, smoother power band, noticeable from the seat. These cars are strong and the internals can take this little adjustment no problem..

Worked with Jared who was extremely helpful with he whole process of install. Very simple took 20 minutes. Most of the time setting up the battery charger.

I've ran Cobb's AP on two of my past vehicles, although those cars cost less than half of what a base 911 costs, great service from Cobb and Cobb has certified tuners all over the state.
The AP itself is worth the buy with the easy to read vehicle info!
