preowned C2S vs C4S, thoughts?
I have a C4S and the reason I love it is the feeling I get when I accelerate as I start coming out of a turn. I see the traction gauge showing the amount of traction going to the front wheels and I can feel the car pushing AND PULLING me out of the turn. Maybe it's all in my head. I really should drive a C2S and a C4S on the same turn, in the same exact way, to know for SURE that there's a difference, but at least in my head, I can feel the difference.
Then of course there's wider rear tires (305 vs 295) and I suspect that also helps with handling/traction.
And finally, the visual impact of the wider hips is an added bonus.
This is my second C4S (997 and now 991) and I wouldn't even consider a C2S when car shopping. I only look a C4S variations.

I'll begin my response by stating my opinion that the most nimble of all Porsche cars I've driven so far was my 981 Boxster S...that car just handles. OK, so I went from that to the C4 which had way more torque and handled a bit more precisely, I thought, than RWD 991s. I think it's close enough between these cars that it really comes down to individual driver preference. The feel is different between them, but it's still all good. So, then I went from the C4 to my GTS and this car I absolutely love...it does everything right.
Great thread guys. I currently have a 997.2 C4S and was eyeing up a 991 CPO C2S that had everything I wanted except the "4". Was wondering if I truly needed it. I do drive sometimes in the winter as I like to get the car up to full temperature at least once per month in the winter, but I won't take it out in salt or slush. I have a set of winter tires (295's on the rear versus my summer 305's) and I must admit it's fun in the winter too. Stability control doesn't let you get into too much trouble. Based on this thread and my driving habits I think I'll wait for a 4S. The boss doesn't think this is a good time to spend more $$ anyhow as the 997.2 is paid for.
I have driven both and have a C2s and could feel the difference in handling too. I have an awd MB and it is great not only in snow but you can drive much more aggressive in the rain with the extra traction. Having said that, sometimes awd can seem a bit boring because of the extra grip under normal driving conditions including backroads, where as 2wd drive you can still have some fun and rely on the traction control to keep things from getting to serious. You lose luggage space in the frunk because of the front differential..
