Serpentine Belt Warning

Guys with higher mileage --

Keep a close eye on your serpentine belts. Maintenance manual says change it at 60k miles but mine split down the middle at 48k. Luckily the tech spotted it while doing an oil change.

Always check your belt during oil change or once a year. Try bending it as cracks are often hidden

Assuming the bumper and air box need to come off to access the tensioner, might as well replace the belt when the air filters get replaced (4 years?).

HansGT2 is infamous around these parts
Mine needed replacement at 22,000 miles. Tech discovered it at annual oil change. Have no idea how many miles I drove with the split belt.

Funny, when I had my serpentine belt changed on my 997 4S, I had a squeaky sound start. Turned out the pulleys needed to be replaced.......or so they said, but never went away completely. Never understood that!
