991 911 GTS timeline?

So i traded in my 4s for the '15 gts. just couldnt get past the all black, 30 extra horses and what i think is a louder exhaust. not to mention the badging...seems a little ******y but damnit, i like it.

so i'm trying to figure out the time line on these. from what i gather, the first 911 GTS came out at the end of production on the 997, which was 2012 right before they went to the 991. then at the end of the 991 (2015), they did another.

is that correct? anyone know? is this an every 4 year car on the 911?
they seem to hold value a bit better too.

thanks

Good call! I traded in my PTT for a 991.1 GTS. Both are great in their own right. Yep there are 2011/2012 997.2 GTS's out there, going for ~ $75k-$80k, so they hold value.
With the 991.1 GTS's, who knows how they will look 4 years from now. Could be worth more than $75k? Not sure.

The next 991.2 GTS will likely be coming out soon...maybe 2018. And they will likely be 450 hp or more with gobs of that twin-turbo torque, rear axle steering, etc. So who knows what that will do to the value of ours. Maybe decrease it...not sure.

I really need to exercise some self-control and enjoy what I've got…

I've got the 2012 GTS, that's the 997.2 by the way, and have been waiting to read about the 991.2 GTS as well. While I wonder if the new GTS will push down the prices of the currently available GTS's.. my main curiosity involves whether or not I'm ready for the new GT3. That all depends. The 997 GT3 is too brutish for for a daily driver in my opinion.. (although part of me believes the 997 GT3 may arguable be the purist driver's car). The 991.1 GT3 are all PDK..for me that's a deal breaker. My hope is that the 992.2 GT3 will be offered in manual, perhaps following suit from the 911R. If so, that may be my next car. The way I see it is that the 911 has grown up (with advent of 991) to the point where the latest GT3 is probably just as suitable as a daily as a GTS. After six years thinking about it, I've concluded, screw it, I can live with the fixed wing . The only requirement for me is, it's gotta be a manual. Fingers crossed.

The microsite for the GTS is up

I find the GTS interesting particularly because it roughly predicts the output in the next S models (992 or whatever moniker they choose). I don't think in the near future any of the models above 450hp will be RWD, the base model with Pirelli shoes can barely handle curves on mildly damp tarmac. Beemers and mercs already followed Audi RS line in that sense

Yep the microsite is up, the looks are very similar to the 991.1, but 405 lb-ft of torque! That is SICK on a RWD car this lightweight.
