Are you satisfied with Carrera s
I sold my turbo S about 6 months ago and now have an itch for another play car. The Turbo S was awesome in every way just got sick of the having such an expensive car that I only drove 1800 miles in 12 months. I have driven a Z06 recently and a Gtr both of which I owned years ago but was not impressed with either as I have got older. I am a total Porsche nut and have loved them since my first one back in 03'. I have never owned a non turbo p car so I am very hesitant to go with the Carrera S just because it's unknown to me. I did go and test drive a Carrera s but for about an hour an it was a wonderful car it's just hard to get a read on a car just driving it a short time. Unfortunately, I do not have a close dealer so keeping one for any time is not in the playing cards. I have asked a few that has made the switch and they seem satisfied with their cars just hoping for more assurance before pulling the trigger. Another question i have is the 4s or Gts a better option. I have read most like the 2wd vs awd just for the driving perspective! Thanks for any advice or personal experience

Sorry, I was not clear no it was new it was just costly payment wise vs a normal Carrera S payment! If I was driving it daily it would not bother me having a large payment but for a play car I would prefer a smaller payment when I only enjoy it a few times a month. I guess my real question should be is the Carrera S satisfying to jump in several times monthly and play around in or should I just opt for a regular turbo.

I went from driving 4 Porsche TT cars, the last 2 997tt's to a 991.1 4S and could not be happier.
The Porsche TT is an amazing car and I loved all of them but you can never really use all that power on a regular basis and I don't track anymore or have time to. The 4S or S cars are quick and agile and great cars you can run up the rpms. Again not the kick in the assignment the TT has but a real pleasure to drive on twistie roads. The .2 is a great compromise as you get some turbo mixed with the weight of a regular 911.

Awesome, thanks for the response!

Let me first say that the Turbo S is an example of Porsche's best engineering. My issue, to call it that, with the Turbo S is that it's way more car than most will ever need or use in a line-up that is bursting with sports cars that cost much less and won't ever be completely wrung-out either. So, yes, the GTS, S, 4S, and even "base" 911 would completely satisfy 97% of car enthusiasts desiring a 911. If something with heftier grunt and torque is what's wanted, then the GTS is a close call to the Turbo and Turbo S. However, the 911 S is more than enough sports car to cause trouble outside of a track.

That's my thinking also just hard to go from a Turbo S to a Carrera S. However, I never even got close to using the power of the Turbo S it was just exhilarating to jump on the throttle and have all the power. That is what I am scared I will miss but the Carrera S I am told has plenty of pwr so it will be fine. I would love to wait on the GTS but I know the discount will be minimal if any and I can get 14k off a 17 Carrera S. Thanks for your thoughts.

I would try driving the .1 S before you buy to compare the difference. It would be less dramatic a change than the .2- and less expensive both for purchase and operational maintenance.

I have a C2S and a GT3 (for when I want to be irresponsible). I owned a turbo and frankly did not like it. It was stupid fast but a bit boring imo. I like the NA engine, a MT, and the immediate response to my foot in the C2S. I love my C2S and love the lighter front end vs. the 4S. I'd only get a 4S if I wanted a DD; my C2S is a summer DD only so I don't need the 4S.
The thing you should get comfortable with is the torque or lack of torque vs. your Turbo/GTR/Z06. I like higher rev engines with immediate feedback but some people going from a turbo or big v8 to non-turbo miss the torque. Spend some seat time on one and see where you come out.

Thanks for you through comment that puts it in perspective! I am going to try and go spend sometime in one this weekend. Problem with most dealers is they want you go do a 30 minute test drive which is fine for some but it takes me longer to decide if its for me. The turbo I wanted did not care but this car I am concerned so I will see if they will let me enjoy it a bit. Thanks again

Just came from a 997tt with a Cobb Tune. Turbo was great, stupid fast, but as others mentioned impossible to utilize the power a majority of the time. I went back to the NA 911 with a new-to-me 991.1 C2S, and I LOVE it. NA Flat-6 sound is what I missed so much with the 997tt and the throttle response is great with the 991. Overall, I'm very happy with my C2S, very satisfied and don't miss the Turbo.
