Brake fluid recommendation?

I need to flush my brake fluid, and I don't really want to spend the $58 per liter my dealer is charging for factory fluid. Anyone have any recommendations on DOT 4 fluid? No track days yet on this car, so not worried about that.

How much is required to flush the system. I'm coming up on 2 years in September when my C2S was built. Time for a fliud change. I'm going with Motul 600 but how much should get.
Thanks

Motul RBF600 is great stuff for street or light/medium track duty. It's typically available online for about $17-18 per half liter.

2 half liter bottles should be enough. If its your first time, you want want a third on hand until you get the hang of it.

If I may make a suggestion, you might want to consider purchasing a brake fluid tester for around $12. It will measure the moisture content in your brake fluid, which is the real measure of when it should be flushed. Spirited driving or track use will dictate a more frequent change.

Amazon sells them. The link will not work due to the forum block.

Thanks great suggestion on a tester. The car is not a DD and it only has 2600 miles on it. It was delivered to me new 1 year ago, heck its never been touch by water, top or underneath. My M6 required a brake fluid change every 2 years. I know BMW and VW are serious about changing it regularly.I assumed the same for Pcars.

Any recommendations for a good vacuum pump for doing fluid changes?

+1 On the Motive Bleeder. And if you are not tracking then suggest the ATE 200 over the Motul 600. ATE is half the price and less hygroscopic than Motul. Motul has a higher temp rating and is better for track, however.

Agree with Brad! For a street driven car, Motul is overkill and will require more frequent flushes due to its more hygroscopic property. ATE Typ 200 is more than enough for most street driven performance cars and is possibly what comes with the car from the factory.

I have used both the Motul 600 and the ATE Type 200 at different times of the year. Motul for the summer track season and the ATE for the off season. I find the ATE to be pedal soft in comparison to the Motul, however I agree that the ATE is plenty sufficient for street use.

Can't go wrong with the ATE typ 200 or Super DOT4 in a street car.

Power bleeders are awesome, I used to dread changing brake fluid due to the bleeding process. Ever since I got a power bleeder it takes no time and the brakes feel great after every time.

I went with the ATE typ 200, and I already had a Motive bleeder that I used. Very easy job. I was surprised at how many bubbles came out with the initial bleed valve opening. My brakes feel much better now!
