It has many years since I ordered a new Porsche so is a discount on a new Targa order a possibility? Or is there a sponsering dealer here that might be better to work with?

 

Shop around. One is likely to give you one. Probably easier on a 4S than 4 GTS.

Check around but allocations are way down. A buddy of mine just ordered a Targa GTS and had trouble finding a slot. He's in Seattle, ended up ordering a car from a dealer in Chicago.

 

I have contacted several dealers and am waiting to hear back from some but one told me if I ordered now it would be for a "2019" model year car. Does that mean it is too late to order a 2018? If your buddy just ordered one maybe he was lucky to get one of the last allocations. And I did not think that 2019 info was out yet.

7/3 Update: I checked with 8 dealers and wound up ordering a Targa 4S today, which I hope will be here by the end of the year.
