991 or R8
991 or R8
Asking my questions on both relevant sixspeed forums, even though the Audi side isn’t as populated. We have an E55 and a hybrid Toyota suv - his and hers - for daily use. A wide body 993 that will never leave. And a desire for a newer special occasion car. Feel free to suggest other relatively neutral sites to post on, pretty confident the responses at rennlist or R8talk would be predictable.
Looking for first hand responses, someone who has lived with one or both cars... 2012.5 to 2015 Carrera S or the same era R8 4.2, PDK or S tronic. Comfort, ease of entry and exit, reliability, mpg and drivability comparisons please.
I would like to thank you for reading this, and hopefully responding.

IMHO "For daily use" and your comments about comfort makes the 911 the definitive answer to your question. Audi R8 is very nice, but it's not a daily driver.
Here's why i like my 991.1 Turbo S (and things that are unique to it compared to other sports cars):
-Awesome visibility rivaling that of a Honda or Toyota. The low hood line and low belt line/tall windows make visibility excellent
-Ease of getting in and out vs a lower slung sports car like a Corvette of R8. A sports car will be low, but the 911 is probably one of the taller sports cars. The low slung boxer engine means it still has a low center of gravity.
-Burmester Audio. I'm not an audiophile and the Burmester sounds incredible to me. It's definitely the best car audio system i've owned.
-Air cooled seats are incredibly nice for a daily driver. Especially after a bike ride or hike. No sweaty back.
-Carbon ceramic brakes means very clean wheels all of the time. My prior 997 Turbo would show a ridiculous amount of brake dust after only a 10 mile drive. I know PCCB and cooled seats are an option, but i would recommend paying a premium for it in the used market.
-Reliability. For the last decade, Porsche rivaled Honda and Toyota in reliability.
And lastly, you mentioned you're comparing 991.1 911 vs a comparable year R8. If you were talking 991.1 or 991.2 Carrera vs the newest R8, that would complicate things and nudge me a little towards R8. But since it's the last generation, that further solidifies my opinion towards the 911. The 911 is a timeless design. The first gen R8 looks a bit dated. And i'm not crazy about the 4.2L R8. It's a great engine for the RS5, but a bit of a let down in the R8
