991 still looks good!

Hello everyone,,
The 991 is the best looking generation ever, including the 993. Put them side to side and the 991 is sleeker, lower, wider, just overall racier.

993 is the best looking imo. 991 still looks good though. All thoughts and opinions on what generation looks better is subjective. That being said, I had the opportunity to buy a 991.2, and the 992s looks alone won my purchase.

I waited to decide until I saw the 992, and when I did I ordered a 991...subjective looks indeed!

I love my 991 and it is a beautiful car. That said the 992 is also beautiful....but not enough to justify the move up. The biggest difference is with the interior and technology which is much better in the 992.

Sadly....i think that only 911 owners can distinguish the difference in the 991 and 992 at first glance. In fact, pictured from the front, JK911's white 992 looks no different from a 991.

I actually like the interior in my 991.2 so much better than the 992 interior.

I held off ordering my 992 because I hated the standard front end with the gaping hole in the front. It just did not look classic 911. When the SD front apron option came to light, I was all in. Mostly because I absolutely love the rear look of the 992 over the 991. That’s just personal taste though. But I agree with you, my 992 front fascia looks almost identical to that of a 991.. and that is what I love most! The front end of a 991 combined with the beautiful rear of a 992.

I am about 50/50 with you there. Another big seller for me on the 992 was the interior quality with the full leather package (not the standard interior). Which the 991 still has great full leather quality to match.. but most of all, the clean design of the interior with a little retro added with the horizontal layout. I love the clean updated look and tech.

That being said, I love the ergonomics of the 991, 10x better than the 992. Porsche really needs some software updates ASAP to fix the issues buried deep within the PCM. It’s an absolute nightmare having to push the screen several times just to accomplish simple tasks (me looking at you garage door opener and radio stations). The layout and ergonomics of the 991 have the 992 beat, no doubt.

There are truly pros and cons for every generation, and the 992 is no exception.

Hard to argue with the looks of a 991:

I agree that the 991 is the best looking variant of the 911 so far, certainly the best looking water-cooled 911. The 992 looks like an evolution of the 991, but some of the design features are clunky and don't flow with the overall design of the car. Evolution of a current design is nothing new to Porsche. The 997 was an evolution of the 996 platform, just like the 992 is an evolution of the 991 platform. Don't get me wrong - I think the 992 looks great and I'll probably own one at some point, but I like the 991 better. As for the 993, it looks great, but it's not my favorite of the air-cooled cars. I prefer the more traditional 911 headlights and fenders found in the original design.

991 style will always be remembered as wonderful. IMO it's the pinnacle of 911 design and will be talked about 50 years from now.
