993 Turbo S

Does anyone know what the current values are for the 993 Turbo S? Also, I have read that there were 182 or so built. Is that just the production run for the USA, or for the USA and the rest of the world. Thanks in advance for everyones time and help.

depends on mileage. Ive seen them recently priced anywhere from $120,000 to as high as just under $200,000

They do seem to be coming down in price but not much.

Thanks for the help with the values on these cars guys. But what about production numbers? I wouldn't think that all 182 of the 993 Turbo S's were sent to the USA, but I have never seen a breakdown of where else these cars went. I thought that I read that maybe 12 were sent to Australia, but I can't confim that. It just seems odd that only the USA would have gotten ALL of the 993 Turbo S's that were produced???? Any ideas anybody.

I think that 182 is the world number. I would hesitate at a $120k copy. Most of the good ones are north of 160k-185k asking. They are fantastic cars. Worth the hype of 100k more than their non S brothers? I don't know for sure. I've been told I have 1 of the 10 white one's though.

Definately this one at 275k isn't the market. The owner of this place selling this one has been sniffing glue in the back office I think. I even talked with him one day about what I thought the value of his was...He mis heard me I'm guessing because I told him with his mileage he might get 150k. With the royal blue with yellow it will take a special buyer as well

275k?! Huh? Is that US dollars? What a joke. And blue , blue, and yellow with 17k+ miles? That is a laugh. Okay, then, I'll offer mine a $1 million dollars!

The Turbo S is a nice car but it is not that special. It is essentially the same as a non-S turbo with a lot of nice options. It is no 73 RS. It is not a collectors car in that realm in my opinion. I think it is worth about 50% more than a non-S based on its options, slight perfromace enhancement, and rarity.

A non-S turbo w/17k miles might be 80-90K if perfect. That makes this car 130k if perfect.

Glad to hear it from an actual owner that's not smoking crack.
The Turbo S is nice but I don't think it's worth that much more than the regular turbo in terms of performance. Lets face it these cars are mostly garage queens with engine that's been sitting around for years collecting gunk. These day an age the term collector's car just seems more and more ludicrous.

x2 on Park Place smoking crack

Since no one mentioned it, Park Place has had reputation issues in the past. Do a search on 6Speed, Rennlist, etc. and you'll see what I mean. I raised this issue with one of their salespeople when I inquired about a car a while back... they were unconcerned and replied that "you can't make everyone happy." Hmmm. Not exactly words of reassurance when buying something a tad more costly than a candy bar.

I think the absurd figure that Park Place is asking for that 993TTS, despite the interesting factory options (to each his own whether that merits the crazy *ss premium), also says something about the dealer's modus operandi.

My humble two cents.

Thanks for all the input guys. I decided to pull the trigger and buy the black 1997 993 Turbo that Michael Willhoit had on ebay a few days ago. Black/Black with sport seats and all the right options. Paid $89,500 for it, but with 11K miles, one owner, and ALL books/records and ALL original paint I just couldn't pass it up. It has already had the 15,000 mile service, so she is ready to hit the ground running. I don't mind paying more for a pristine example. I looked at a 993 Turbo S with 5000 miles, Speed Yellow with very few options for $185K. I just couldn't see spending almost an extra $100K for the 993 Turbo "S".....I will try to post pics when the car is delivered at the end of the week. Michael Willhoit sure is nice to deal with. Offered me all my money back if the car isn't exactally as described when it shows up and he even picked up the bill for enclosed transportation to my house. What more could you ask for??? To bad all car dealers are not like that!!! Thanks Michael!

Gentleman I don't smoke crack. I will also list mine for $25k under yours 993turbos

These cars are all about supply and demand. They command higher because you can't find them for sale. Right now out of the 250-300 993 Turbos on the market I can find 4 of them. 1 priced at 275k so it's not for sale. One with 23k miles on the ticker which is a lot for one of the last true Porsche Collector cars. Lets face it. What is there after it? Sloan has had the same White/Tan for sale for 18-24 months and Tan interior just isn't sought after so it might sit a while.

I don't care where the prices go on these. I don't plan on selling mine. I hope my grandson drives it someday. I don't think you can throw a blanket over all Turbo S's and simply state 50% greater than the typical produced Turbos. If performance speculated pricing why aren't the 993 GT2's only around 200k? Lets face it they are only a few HP more not much more differences.

No affiliation but if you haven't already, call Ray at RPM http://rpmsportscars.com/inven.htm

He can find something for you if you don't like what he has on hand (nice X50 993TT in his inventory).

Mark your car doesn't count. You have a gem of all gem White on black. I am talking about the ones with nasty red or blue interiors thinking their car worth $100K more than the Non S is laughable.

Maybe there's another goal driving the crazy pricing? Ego? PR? Sure generating a lot of buzz... but definitely not the kind that makes me ever want to purchase a car from them. Contrary to popular belief, all PR is not necessarily good PR
