Salvage Title 993 TT

Looking at a 96' salvage title 993 tt,car was completley rebuilt by 911 Designs in Cali. The car had 25k miles at time of accident.
I am not in a position to by a 75-80k 993,but for this car the asking price is only 45k,does this seem reasonable? And any other thoughts or concerns would be much appreciated~Thanks

Price is about right for a 993tt with a salvage title. Plan to keep it, reselling it will offer you the same results as you are thinking.

i wouldn't pay 45 for a salvage title 993tt. maybe 35. if you sit tight you'll easily find one in the mid 50s and as people rack up the miles on them they'll drop to the 40's

Fwiw, I have a nice black over cashmere 96 993 Turbo that I would sell in the low $40's. It's a clear title car but has 80k miles.

So low mileage salvage title or high mileage clear title. I honestly don't know which is better.

Clear title w/high miles vs Salvage title w/low miles,I suppose pros & cons with both, not sure if there is a better

I think a lot could hinge on what caused the salvage. I.E. theft recovery vs hard impact collision. Are there pics or documentation prior to repair? Perhaps a flood car? I've heard that problems can continue to surface years after with flood.

gandalfthegray,

I am very interested in your car if you are still considering selling your car.

for a car to be salvaged by insurance the damage is more than the car is worth. lets use 50k for example. the damage was more then that. i would never by a classic car like that unless it was almost free.. you have 45k now; you may end up spending that balance on issues that are unforeseen and out of your control that you could have spent buying the (clean) car. you may still be underwater with the one you are thinking of buying... good luck

Clean title car with more miles is a much better choice than salvage car. This is a sports car we're talking about, it will not drive the same after sustaining structural damage no matter how good the repair was.

really? you actually believe what you are saying? have you not heard of a pre purchase inspection, lots of cars are salvaged with little to no damage, around here they get salvaged if they are "stolen" and recovered once the insured is paid out. maybe you should get your facts straight before you start getting in the way of somebody getting a good deal on a car they couldnt otherwise afford. theres are lot of ****ty salvage cars out there, but theres alot of good ones too.

Go for one w/a clean title...less headache.

They sold a 07 997TT w/1k miles on it today at the auction I attend w/a Salvage Title for $50k...would I buy it, NO..why cause the buyer that I would sell to would be leary about the title and history. Just too much money to tie up on a "salvage titled" vehicle.
