Price for 1997 coupe

I am looking at a 1997 Carrera2, 72xxx mileage, guards red, it had 30 k and 45 k maintenance, brand new tires, valve cover gasket repair, CEL repair. Seller is trying to get the 60k maintenance from shop...asking is $ 26k. I plan a PPI if my offer is accepted. How much should i offer? thanks.

asking price

You should buy it for what the asking price is. Unless it has ever been wrecked. 26 is a little cheap actually IMO.

Hope your seller is not a 6-speed regular!! You may have inadvertently just started an auction!

honestly, unless the seller is an idiot, i would make sure everything checks out with thing...if its too good to be true.....well, you know rest...

I just bought a pristine 97 C2 coupe 6-speed, black over grey, with 57K on the odo and spent wayyyyy more than 26.

My point as well. You should remember as a seller that a 97 model is one of the last full production years for a dying breed of machines. Historic machines. Nice examples of these beautiful creations go for upwards of 40k. S models sometimes go for more than the turbo cars. I recently have seen C4S cars in the 80k range.

26k in good shape is an absolute steal.

So that is still a good deal. Regardless a thorough PPI needs to be done by a master shop. One that has a body shop and paint meter as well.

....just curious, the paint meter will show if the car has been repainted for whatever issues?

Yes, it will tell you if any parts/panels have been repainted. However, this is not the big issue...depending on the panel, you will then want to make sure there was no damage underneath that is structural. Lots of people have had the front bumper repainted to get rid of rock chips...that isnt a big deal.

The price is really okay for that kind of car. You should accept it without even bargaining too much....but bargain a little just in case

Went to see the car and I found out that sometime ago it was in an accident; it hit a vespa and the front bumper and hood were replaced. Repaired by a reputable body shop to factory standard to cost of $8 k. Also drove it for a few blocks and it felt good. Dealbreaker ?.
