New 993 Owner...to be.
This is my first post here at the 6speedonline Forums and I wanted to introduce myself. A lot of forums have a 'newbie' intro sub forum or rule so I'm accustomed to introducing myself when joining a forum. That said...Hello all! Happy to be a member here at 6speedonline and look forward to being able to contribute to the community.
I joined because I am about to buy a 1998 993 with 47K mi. It's spent most of it's life garaged but just had it's electrical system completely overhauled and was inspected top to bottom.
I've known the owner (and car) since the car was brand new so I know it's history and how it was cared for.
I've waited in the wings patiently for the past 17 years for the owner to sell and the day has finally come. A little excited!
Anyway I've got a lot to learn about 993's which is going to be fun. Look forward to many posts here at 6speedonline!

Well, the plot thickens...the owner wants 55K. It's a 97 C2 with 47,000 mi
A great car but seems high to me, then again I haven't been watching the market.
I said I could do 45K. No word back yet.

that's def on the high side but the clean car is really hard to find now. therefore, it's really depends on what's your plan for the car. everyone wants a great deal but in today's market it's unlikely u can steal the car to make easy profit. if your intention is to keep it, drive it & enjoy it then for clean car the price is acceptable, under the condition that the car doesn't need anything. keep in mind it's easy to spend few thousand dollars to sort things out if needed. 45k would be a steal imo.

45 is a decent/fair price, given the overinflated market value of even a c2. wish i had kept mine, though my current 996 turbo is twice the car in spite of its market value being 1/3 LESS than the older 993! lol

What happened to the electrics?
Why did he have to overhaul the electrical system? Fire?
Don't know about the other guys on the forum, but this is an unusual thing to do. Porsche electrical on a '98 should be rock solid.
Aside from that weirdness, for a C2, that price sounds like it's in the ball park. Start looking at a wide body, and things get unreal real quick
(Says the guy with the wide body!)
