I would reserve my judgment until I actually sit in the new interior and "feel" it first hand. Often, an interior can look great on a photo but be not so good in person, and visa versa.

The 997 interior is a bust in my opinion.

I'll be in my 996 Turbo until the 998 Turbo comes out; unless of course the 998 continues along the same path as the 997...

The wood shifter is for historical reasons, as a throwback to the original Porsche race cars that had the balsa wood shifters.

Ugly or not, it's tradition! So I guess for me, I have to like it.

anyone have pics of concept CGT?

the new 997 steering wheel does look like the one in the concept CGT before.

I received the same interior photograph of the 997 from my Porsche dealer a few weeks ago... I just can't get past the "Pontiac" look and feel of the 997.

I'm wondering what the "optional" packages (carbon, wood, leather, etc) are going to look like... perhaps the 997 interior will look better dressed up a bit.

I think the new 997 steering wheel will have a round center as opposed to the triangle one on the CGT.

I like the wood shifter. Kind of cool, but interiors are suich a personal issue. I love my TT with full carbon and leather. There does not seem a whole lot that be carbon fitted, painted or personalized on the new 997 interior. It will be interesting to see how personalized one could get with the 997 interior as far as options.

It's not a fair comparison when one is 4X as expensive as the other IMHO. While I hated the 997 interior upon first glance, the more I look at the pictures, the more inviting it seems. I think once everybody gets a chance to drive one, they'll probably feel the same too (or at least I hope so).

I'm with Amir; the door panels look poor but over all the interior in these pics look like a better quality than the 996. For some reason the original tan interior pics didn't do the 997 any justice - tan in a "911" is bad taste.

I actually consider the base 996s as being ugly (except GT3/2/TT/C4S?). I wouldn't describe the 997 as ugly .
