Strange sound.

I got home after lunch and went to lock the doors and heard a strange clunking sound come from the car. I know there's a sound when the locks engage but this sound was much louder than usual. Any ideas?

That was the sound of the good doctor turning in his grave over the new 997.

Wish I could help you on that one, does sound a bit odd. Was it a single clunk or multiple clunks? Where did the sound seem to be coming from?

the sound seems to be coming from inside or in front of the passenger side door and it only makes a single clunking sound during locking. It sounds like a loose cable linkage or something.

My car makes a fairly loud "clunk" when the doors are locked and unlocked.

There could be something out of adjustment with the mechanism though.

It is the gas door unlocking. It locks with the rest of the car.

Stephen,

i do believe you are correct. i did fill up with gasthis morning and I just checked it and the sound is coming from that area. I guess it was just a bit wankered so I wiggled it and it seems to be fine now... impressive.

Thanks,

Britt
